Senior Deputy Ben Fields should have been give a medal for showing restraint in handling the young criminal.
The Officer should not have been fired, the girl had been asked three times before the officer was called to remove her from class. ....seems pretty clear to me...I hope someone follows this up.
Needs to sue. No due process or review.

The whole idea behind "school resource officers" was implemented throughout the country after Columbine, with the specific responsibility for stopping shooters and terrorists. However, since then, administrators have found it very convenient to turn disciplinary issues over to these LEOs, resulting in a lot of kids getting sent to jail, when in the past, a good paddling sufficed.
I'm amazed that so many on this board are A-OK with how this LEO behaved despite so many threads about jack-booted, out-of-control cops.

Police shouldn’t be asked to enforce non criminal school policies...the teacher wouldn’t touch her...security guard wouldn’t touch her...didn’t want to be sued...so call the cops and let them be sued...SRO’s won’t step in anymore...chaos

What if it was your kid? Does non-violent refusal warrant being flipped out of your chair? What if she hit the back of her head and was knocked unconscious? Then you have to worry about a concussion.

They now have a unlawful leader in the hut so they are not supposed to answer to anyone and are allowed to do anything they feel they need to do. That would include all the drugs, killing, prostituting, disrespecting legal authority and all they can think of in the moment.

The point being that teachers aren’t allowed to touch the fragile snowflakes for fear of being fired, and that many of these “schools” are more like prisons or asylums. They use police officers because *they* are trained/allowed to physically handle students. This is why you see unruly 5-year-olds handcuffed and bigger kids tasered.
