Yet another bloated liberal in love with the sound of his own beating gums and yammering on and on with the sort of blather...

Firmin DeBrabander is a professor of philosophy at the Maryland Institute College of Art

[Your linked Wiki article, quoting Adlai Stevenson]

As explained by Adlai Stevenson, "the Wisconsin tradition meant more than a simple belief in the people. It also meant a faith in the application of intelligence and reason to the problems of society. It meant a deep conviction that the role of government was not to stumble along like a drunkard in the dark, but to light its way by the best torches of knowledge and understanding it could find."[1]

Yes, unlike the years of darkness when Thomas Jefferson stumbled along in the White House and at the University of Virginia.

You can always spot a liberal, overselling the nostrum and short-selling the Founders. Poor Ben Franklin; if only he'd been smort like us!

As a matter of principle, the Left wants us to fear freedom and to scorn America and her virtues.

If Firmin DeBrabander says it, that’s good enough for me!

That name is German, and they're famous for their acceptance of authority. Wonder how many Nazi bigwigs this guy has in his family tree?

Which reminds me of something my dad told me, of the time he spent in postwar Germany, de-militarizing the country. The Americans didn't confine their attentions to underground aircraft factories. He told me that when he and other Americans spotted a German wearing riding boots, they'd make him take them off. Old authority symbol, which the Americans zealously suppressed. No more killing Jews and Gypsies, now.

Can anyone think of any Liberal concept that works?

Sadly, yes, “public education.”
....................................................
Otherwise known as Public Indoctrination. Schools are no longer places of learning. They have become places of mind imprisonment and forced acceptance of evil.
My grandmother was a teacher in Kansas at the turn of the 20th century. She was a well educated woman who carried a pistol at all times, including in her classroom. She was a crack shot with pistol, rifle, or shotgun. Her day was no different than today. People need a means of defnse, particularly since old fashioned good manners and RESPECT have been thrown out of the classroom and society in general. Look what the hoodlums get away with. The jokester who wrote this article is from BALTIMORE. What a laugh!

“Sadly, yes, ‘public education.’”

It works for the liberal zealots aiming to indoctrinate America’s next generations. Does it work for the kids? No.

A very illuminating article on the flawed mentality of the left, fortunately Donald Trump has clearly stated that he is a strong supporter of our Second Amendment rights and has condemned the so-called ‘gun free zones’ that end up just being a target rich environment for the sickos who wake up one morning and decide to commit mass murder.

>>Rather, he argued, the classroom must feature dialogue between students and teachers invested in a common task of inquiry.

Do they realize how stupid this sounds? First, if the students don’t “fill up” with knowledge, how can they have a dialogue with a college educated adult who has taught this class a dozen times. There is no common task of inquiry that the students and teachers share, unless the teacher just feigns ignorance to pump up the student’ self esteem.

Aahhhhh. I get it now. Haha

Now that we have [Hardwire's bulletproof] shields, we have a feeling of security.

Well, there ya go, "feeling of security".

Not being protected by your own Glock or S&W, just feeling safe, by being in a gun free zone with a bullet proof shield hanging from the rafters...oh, wait...

To justify widespread guns, and loosened regulations, NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre declares that our society is rife with danger, nearly on the brink of disaster.

I don't know why the author of this article would make this point. This is exactly the same rationale leftists use for passing gun control laws, isn't it?

The NRA is spot-on about one thing:

"When seconds count, the police are just minutes away."

You can't guarantee the crazies, the terrorists, the criminals, nor the totalitarians will be disarmed.

What you do or don't about it is the one choice you have to ensure your safety as best that can be done.

That isn't the NRA, it's common sense.

I prefer to have a fighting chance, not just for me, but for my family, too.

How we educate our youth plays a critical role in whether they are active, engaged and demanding citizens-such as democracy requires

We quit educating in the ghettos years ago. We have schools, teachers etc. but NO education is being done.
