What they’re really saying is the dead, residents of nursing homes or other institutions, felons and illegals won’t vote for them; nor will they receive paid votes or multiple votes from the same person.

‘McCain and his camp tanked, it seemed deliberate. I just think McCain is that stupid. Perhaps he did know what he was doing, but it sure wasn’t happening for his team, or the nation.’

I have a theory, but no real evidence to back it. It’s purely circumstantial.

Anyway, it seemed like McCain really, really wanted to win at first. Even picking Palin was the move of a candidate driven to win. She was by far the most popular gov in the country, and she burnished his credentials on the conservative side.

After choosing her, he got an eyefull of the stark, embarassing contrast between her crowds and his. He drew much smaller, MUCH less enthusiastic crowds; Palin pulled in the masses like a rock star.

It is clear McCain has a large yet fragile ego. You only have to watch him blossom and bloom when the MSM fawningly calls him a maverick, and observe the lengths he will go to to stay in the press’s favor, if their ardor appears to be waning.

It seems like on some level he observed Palin’s massive, adoring crowds and lost the fire/drive to win. It’s doubtful that four years of being overshadowed by his young, superstar veep appealed to his vanity. Better to be a big fish in the Senate pond than an aging POTUS forever playing second fiddle to his megawatt veep.

Or so it seems to me.

I like your tagline. As the pro golfers wear their sponsor's logos, so should the politicians. At least show the folks who has “bought and paid” for you!

Sadly, there would be some that couldn't fit all the logos on their clothes.

I see.

It seems to me that "electable" is not objectively defined, nor can it be determined with any certainty, except by actually holding an election.

Rather they know that living, breathing, Americans can and will elect in full as a “first”, true outsiders.

Those two goofballs Morton Kondracke and Freddie the Beatle Barnes don’t have a clue of who is going to be nominated or elected. They say what they are told to day by the RNC and the Chamber of Commerce. :-)

I was thinking the same thing. Their days are over. They represent the GHW Bush and Bill Clinton views of the world. Pre 9/11. Pre obama. They’re the kind of people Mitt Romney gets along with..

Did they consider McCain and Romney electable?

Fred Barnes was one of the few pundits who thought McCain would win in 2008.

He also said Hillary was electable that year.

Over 30 or 40 years everybody makes some bad calls.

You hit the nail on the head regarding McInsane and Palin.

Add to that, I don't think he had any mental staying power, he finally just ran out of gas.....and outside of his supposed knowledge of foreign affairs, I think he was out of his depth in well-rounded knowledge of governing.

I think his personality is crappy, also. He's not that likeable a person.

That theory is as good as any. Personally I am sure he planned on giving her the Kenney/Johnson treatment as soon as he was elected. We wouldn’t have seen her do anything until he needed her again in 2016. Just my opinion...

Well, in a way you’re right, but we have a make decisions based on what things look like too.

We can toss polls completely in the trash. I’m not convinced that’s a good tactic to incorporate.

You can bet the farm the other folks will be using them to their advantage.

We have to do the best we can.
