NEWS Suspect in UC Merced stabbing ID'd as 18-year-old Faisal Mohammad of Santa Clara KGO Updated 4 mins ago
Merced County Sheriff Vern Warnke has confirmed the suspect in Wednesday's stabbing at UC Merced has been identified as Faisal Mohammad, an 18-year-old from Santa Clara.
UC Merced is under a precautionary lockdown after a male student stabbed four people and the suspect was shot to death by police. Investigators say it started with a fight Wednesday morning inside a classroom. The suspect pulled a knife and then took his attack outside.
Two of the stabbing victims were students, one was a staff member and another was a contractor. Two of the victims were flown to the hospital and all of the victims' names have not been officially released. All are expected to recover from their injuries.
Students are still in shock, but are praising the school for how it handled this emergency. They say they were quickly notified and told to evacuate.
School officials and authorities held a press conference at 4 p.m. and they confirmed the suspect was a student living on campus.
The suspect is from California, but they are not identifying him yet because they say next of kin have not been notified. Authorities also confirmed that the FBI is on the scene assisting in the investigation.
John Price's son, Byron, is a construction worker who was working on the UC Merced campus when he heard what he thought was a fight and ran into a classroom.
John said, "They heard a commotion in a classroom across the hallway, then they heard screaming. The guy came out of the classroom and lunged at him. Byron ended up going down on his back, he got stabbed, but he was able to kick the guy in the head."

Mohammad was shot and killed by UC Merced police just after 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning as he ran from the two-story classroom building where investigators said his violent spree began.
Yeah, but what’s in a name anyway? Guess the plan to import more knife wielders is progressing just fine. We just seem to get stupider and stupider.
I am guessing they waiting this long to identify the suspect in order to provide enough time to scrub his social media accounts to prevent a link to Islamic extremism.

A tweet from the school said that not all of the victims are students. The Los Angeles Times’ Joe Serna reported that two victims are students and one is a school staff member. The other is a 31-year-old construction worker named Byron Price.
He told Your Central Valley that after being stabbed a coworker drove him to a nearby hospital. In an interview the station, Price added that he was working outside the building where the stabbing took place. After hearing screaming, Price went to see what had happened. “Upon opening the door to the classroom, the suspect attacked him with a knife,†during which point he was stabbed although he did manage to kick Muhammad. According to his Facebook page, Price just got engaged on October 14, around 2 weeks before the attack.
The 0bomb would caution us not to draw any conclusions from the “suspect’s” Islamic-sounding name. After all “the leader of the free world” has an Islamic-sounding name.
Gun free zones are preventing people from defending themselves from this violence. It’s interested that this wasn’t ‘gun violence’ this time.
Well that explains the reticence of the MSM to ID the guy.
I became suspicious when the local authorities wouldn’t name him, rather calling him ‘a resident of California’. Duh.
Wonder if the usual gaggle of gun-grabbers on that campus weren’t just a wee bit thankful that the police had guns on their campus that day?
I'm pretty sure that the perp is NOT from Santa Clara, as stated.
It seems every teenager has a cell phone. They are forever tweeting and posting on social media.

Where are the eye witness accounts?
The only video shown yesterday was of an ambulance and a police car racing (either towards are away from the scene, I heard both description for the video).
