Trump names Cruz when asked about VP spot

Donald Trump on Tuesday named Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) when asked about his possible running mate in 2016.

"Ted Cruz is agreeing with me 100 percent," he said when asked about his vice presidential pick, according to Lifezette.

"Well, I like him," Trump told radio host Laura Ingraham during her broadcast. "He's backed everything I’ve said."

Unlike most of the Republican presidential hopefuls, Cruz has mostly refrained from attacking Trump, even appearing alongside him at a rally in September against the Iran nuclear deal.

The pair has also struck similar tones on topics such as border security and illegal immigration.

Still, Trump suggested late Monday that he will turn on Cruz if he becomes a threat to his front-runner status.

"If he catches on, I guess we'll have to go to war," he told host Joe Kernen on CNBC's "Squawk Box."

Cruz and Trump are also on the same page in opposing President Obama's plan to resettle 10,000 Syrian refugees in the U.S. Trump on Tuesday said Germany's decision to accept the refugees is going to "destroy" that country.

"Look what [Angela] Merkel has done in Germany," he said, citing the German chancellor's resettlement plan for as many as 800,000 Syrians.

"Taking these people is absolute insanity," Trump added. "There are going to be riots over there."

Trump said Obama should worry about defeating the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) first.

“ "He's supposed to be a cheerleader for this country, [but] he just acts like a defeated man," he said.

It’s trump’s to lose.

If he wins, I’ll take Cruz as v.p.

If he flames out, I want to see trump throw his support to Cruz.

Trump wants to be Cruz’ VP?

What if Ted doesn’t want him?

I would love a Trump/Cruz ticket.

Cruz is the guy that could get it done. He would be a wrecking ball in that sleazy town.

Hmmm. Would Cruz be more valuable as a V.P. or on the Supreme Court? I’d prefer Supreme Court.

Talk, being nice. I seriously cannot see anyone, especially Trump, making Cruz VP. He brings nothing to the ticket and is better as AG and a future Supreme Court justice.

I disagree, As President of the Senate, VP Cruz can wield an enormous amount of power and influence.

Cruz can get what done? All he has done is run a failing campaign and has been a abject failure and hypocrite in the Senate. He has been a martyr, yes, but without wins, it is meaningless. Besides, he has voted to help Obama with TPP and Iran, he supported until now 500% increase in H1B, he has refusted to say no to amnesty, etc. Trump will eventually rip him apart for all these points and more.

Cruz would be a good AG or Chief Justice. But I agree with eyeamok at this point...President of the Senate isn’t just a symbolic position. It’s only used that way. Would be a good move now.

Cruz is very young and as VP gets the next shot.

We can find a good AG. Mark Levin works for me. And Cruz could still be the CJSC like Taft! :)
