I did cross-stitch for years, too, but with all the little children, it got really difficult. I make needlepoint refrigerator magnets that say “Jesus,” because that takes only an hour since I have the pattern memorized.

Working on a cross-stitch project takes scissor, several needles, three boxes of thread, the pattern, and the piece itself: an awful lot of stuff. Coloring a picture takes a clipboard, the page, and a box of pencils. I can get it out or put it away in ten seconds.

Back in the 70's we had DoodleArt. For washed up hippies. This is just about the same thing, 40 years later.

Thanks for the info, bgill. If I can find a picture that I like (like the pictures at the link), I do intend to try this new hobby, which is as close to art as I’m ever going to get, at this point. LOL.
