Political hothead and Russian colonel Vladimir Zhirinovsky called for president Vladimir Putin to wipe out Turkish capital Istanbul, killing nine million people.
Turkey's decision to down a SU-24 fighter jet after it entered their aerospace was branded "stupid" by Zhirinovsky.
"A nuclear attack can destroy Istanbul very easily. Just one nuclear bomb in the Istanbul Strait will wash the city away," he told Moscow Speaking Radio.

Since Ankara is the capital of Turkey, I have to doubt the veracity of this story.

Yeah, never mind that Istanbul happens to be the ancient Christian capital Constantinople.

I once heard a guy suggest that we should irradiate the entire Middle East, including the Arab countries, Israel and Iran so as to make it a place that no one can live at for about 300 years. By now everyone is aware of the Turkish side of the story of how a Russian Su-24 was downed by a Turkish F-16 on Tuesday morning, when it allegedly crossed into Turkish airspace for a grand total of 17 seconds, with Turkey supposedly warning the Russian bomber which had been targeting alleged jihadists in the region no less than “ten times.” Turkey even produced an alleged recording of said warning, which Russia implied was faked as the surviving pilot made it very clear no actual warning had been received by the Russian warplane.
So now that Russia has had three days to go through the evidence and assemble the pieces of what it thinks happened, here is the summary as presented earlier today by the Commander in Chief of the Russian air force, Viktor Bondarev, which however presents a very gloomy picture with dire consequences for the peaceful geopolitics of the middle east.
Only proves they have nut cases in Russia Too. Besides, Ankara is the Capital and the bombing would destroy Hagia Sopia Church as well as the Blue Mosque and Topai Palace.
Far better would be to take out any Turkish plan that comes close to the border. Or have a Team (Kurds?) to take out the Turkish leadership with snipers rifles.

Vladimir Zhirinovsky? I thought he was worried about the Russian demographic implosion? Instead of inciting more wars which will no doubt cost even more of the already meager population of healthy Russian men, he should be horizontal somewhere making Anna Kournikova (or somebody) pregnant?
We certainly don’t want to nuke Constantinople, with all its historical sites, and its history as a center of Christian civilization.
Just kick the Turks back across the water where they belong.
