The University of California announced Sunday it has pledged $1 billion over the next five years toward research and development of clean energy technology to fight climate change as part of a coalition led by Microsoft founder and philanthropist Bill Gates.

"The University of California, with its 10 campuses and three national energy labs, is home to some of the best climate scientists in the world and as a public research institution we take the imperative to solve global climate change very seriously," said UC President Janet Napolitano.

Time value of efforts expended by useless ‘scientists’ within UC who’d otherwise STILL be a drain on existing budgets with no value added. Janet has just changed their justification of existence.

My thoughts exactly. How can anybody complain about tuition hikes when this crap is going on? Will we see Bernie raising hell?

Given all the chaos the universities have created by churning out educated liberal idiots without a lick if common sense I can't wait till the trend of getting an education turns to cheaper alternative online solutions so the big liberal indoctrination camps can go under and have to file bankruptcy

IOW, they know how to cook the books so good that nobody can ever detect where or how they fudged the numbers.

I would think 1B would be better served by donating to “black lives matter.”

Obviously the University system has more money than they need, maybe ALL Public Funding should be eliminated for the University System?

The professors at UC have actually invented a perpetual motion device. More accurately a perpetual employment device. They will spend $1 billion and be employed to do so to solve a problem that does not exist.

The University of California is a State school so they are basically pledging State taxpayer funds. One day the State is going to run out of other people's money. Ok by me as long as the Feds don't bail them out with my tax funds....

This pledge amounts to $20 million per campus for 5 years.
20x10=200x5=1,000. One thousand million.

Where do they think they will get the money?

From the suckers who pay taxes and tuition in the “Gullible State.”

Or Thorium reactors?
