WASHINGTON — One day after 14 people were slain in a mass shooting in San Bernardino, Calif., Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid on Thursday blamed lawmakers for not acting on an "epidemic of gun violence" and described the National Rife Association as the Republican Party's "quasi-militant wing."

"Republicans must decide if they are more scared of gun violence or the NRA," the Nevadan said.

Delivering his comments on the Senate floor, Reid ticked off a list of some of the nation's deadliest mass shootings in recent years that included the young students killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., as well as the victims of massacres at Fort Hood, Texas, Aurora, Colo., and Washington, D.C.

Reid also included shootings in Las Vegas that left three people dead, including two police officers, and in Carson City, which left four dead.

He cited statistics showing there have been 355 mass shootings so far this year, which means the U.S. is averaging more than one a day.

I guess Harry doesn't need their endorsement anymore.

Didn’t the NRA give Harry a high rating?

Whenever I think of Harry I think of that scene from Casino in the corn field where Joe Pesci’s mobster character meets his end.

I wonder if it’s an omen?

What does he mean “quasi-”...?

The GOP *needs* a group that strikes fear into weasels like Lindsey Graham and John Boehner.

It looks like the NRA isn’t very good at vetting their democrat supporters. They should re-evaluate their entire slate of endorsed democrats.

Humanity is quasi violent.

I’d rather be armed...our ancestors who fled Europe understood this.

The NRA is a very good organization.

They have faults, but they are critical for protecting America’s basic rights.

100%.

We have a terrorist attack on US soil and Reid is attacking Americans and Americans rights.

This guy needs to be hauled off the senate floor and tarred and feathered.

Reid calls America's Constitution 'quasi-militant wing' of Republican Party

Senate Republicans remind Dingy Harry, using one of his favorite phrases, that HELLER ... is "the Law of The Land"

If they endorse any Democrat today a red flag the size of the Milky Way should immediately go up. Endorsing Democrats is why I have no confidence in the NRA today. and how they lost their credibility with me.

Tis been observed the two documents most in need of “interpretation” is the Holy Bible and the U.S. Constitution... for when one does not like what is written... it must need “interpreting”. Some (mostly of leftmind) argue government restrictions can be placed for a “compelling government interest”. But... what if the “compelling government interest” is totalitarian control? This “reason” can be used to “interpret” the 2nd Amendment (and the others) into oblivion. The Founders understood (seems lost to many these days) that the protection of our Constitutional rights is ultimately the responsibility of WE THE PEOPLE, not government. Hence the wisdom of the 2nd Amendment! Hated by the Liberal Statists (Reid, Obama, Hitlery, DemWits) because it’s the Guardian of the rest of the sacred document! God bless America. America bless God!!!
