New Yorkâs most notorious revolutionary tourist â âsandalistaâ Lori Berenson â is back in Manhattan from Peru, where she served 15 years in prison for terrorism. Forgive us if we donât put out a welcome mat.
The LaGuardia HS grad and MIT dropout has been stuck in Peru by law until her full 20-year sentence expired. Now that it has, sheâs heading home to her parentsâ Kips Bay apartment.
Though lionized by the left and worshiped by The New York Times, Berenson, now 46, was no naive idealist. She spent years traveling Central America with Marxist groups until she hooked up with Peruâs Tupac Amaru terrorists â who killed 50,000 Peruvians.
When arrested, she was living in a Tupac Amaru safe house sheâd rented â a house containing 8,000 rounds of ammo and 3,000 sticks of dynamite intended for an attack on Peruâs Congress.
At her initial military trial, she appeared in court shrieking that her comrades werenât criminal terrorists but a ârevolutionary movement.â That helped win her a life sentence â later overturned thanks to Clinton administration pressure. But she still got 20 years after being retried in a civilian court.

Odds are I bet she’ll hook up with either a Marxist group or Mussies.
Obama may hire her as the Terrorism Tsar.
I’m pretty sure she also attempted, or maybe did, get her fellow terrorists, journalist passes to allow them entry to venues to wreak their murderous ideology.
Universities are probably falling over themselves to get an old-school, time-served Leftist like her on their staff.
Yup; Columbia or Bard for sure.
Depends on how wealthy her parents are.
Just for the general info, her wiki entry:
What a piece of work. She’ll probably be DeBlasio’s running mate next time.
The murderous beast.
Vigilantes should find her, take her and throw her off a rooftop.
Apparently she is NOT on the no-fly list so, under the Obama Kasich plans, she can buy a gun.
Welcome home, continue the struggle.
Signed. Bill Ayers
Odds are she never un-hooked.
