If Hillary has trolls looking in on this site they are loving what they are seeing. A split on the GOP side of any substance guarantees Hillary gets elected. Stating facts about the guy -- that while a registered Democrat he had warm praise for Bill Hillary Clinton and also for John McCain, whom he publicly endorsed -- in 2008, that nightmare time when we cringed voting for loathsome McCain; the next one, Romney, was even worse. But Trump "found" the Republican party switched parties to Republican in 2009 -- the party of McCain and Romney, whom he supported.
That's not "bashing" Trump. It's stating a hard cold truth. Look it in the face.

Incorrect. As far as I know, if one is to believe Trump's words, he voted for McCain and Romney.
He was registered as a Democrat when Obama ran and McCain got the nomination, and while he had effusive and warm words for Hillary and Bill Clinton, publicly endorsed McCain, calling him a "smart guy" (these days, he calls him a "dummy"). Some wondered if it wasn't a response to Obama failing to name Clinton as his running mate -- Trump loved Hillary at the time.
In that contest, Rubio slips in.
For me the more important question is, what to do if Rubio or Trump gets the R nomination? Either one is a loss for conservatism and another leftward tack.

I swear, it's Lucy and the football every four years. They don't call it the "stupid" party for nothing. I really almost wish Cruz had/would break free and declare himself an Independent candidate, because he's no more Republican than the man on the moon. In a world where Romney passes for Republican. Trump joined the Republican party six years ago, right when it was becoming the party of Romney. I didn't leave the Republican party, it left me.

Here's the thing...I already have. Cruz is my candidate, all of the way. Which I have indicated here on FR on many occasions.
Having said that, the best thing Cruz and Trump could pull on the GOPe the DNC, and the MSM is some kind of rope a dope where they make a huge deal out of supposed rift, where in reality none exists.
If Cruz does not win the nomination...and I am going to do all I can to help him win it...then we will all have to look at who does win the nomination. If that is Trump, I will vote for him in a heartbeat, despite some of my own concerns about him, over Hillary or any DNC candidate.
It doesn't work out, so you blame allies and others, and think if only we didn't have to deal with them, we could do anything, so you launch us into more messes, which you can blame on outside forces.
It's like complaining about "nation-building" being the problem, and saying all we have to do is get in and get out, so we are forever getting in, getting out, and going back in again.

To get back to the original topic, you're also caught in the cycle of expecting a lot from politicians and being disappointed when they don't deliver everything you expect from them.
It takes a lot to be even a mediocre president, and Trump hasn't shown that he has anything like the ability to be a successful one.
