‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ is atheist, Communist propaganda

The Christmas Eve showing of “It’s a Wonderful Life” may be intended to make you believe in the importance of even an ordinary person’s life, but underneath that, what are the film’s secret hidden messages, the ones that become apparent only after two or three eggnogs? Let’s mull over some of the wackier possibilities.

It’s a salute to atheism. It’s “the least religious but most humanist film you could ever see,” said David Wilson in The Guardian, because it suggests people should fix their problems on Earth rather than waiting for God to help out. Regarding Jimmy Stewart’s character George Bailey, Wilson notes: “Even if he does at one point pray to God, [Bailey] is not religious at all, but simply a man trying to find transcendence in the routine of his life and in his duties to his family, friends and community . . . [director] Frank Capra . . . had a lifelong apathy towards his Catholic upbringing, and

It’s Commie propaganda. A 1947 memo by the FBI containing interviews with Hollywood types, which became of interest to the House Un-American Activities Committee, stated, “With regard to the picture ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’, [REDACTED] stated in substance that the film represented a rather obvious attempt to discredit bankers by casting Lionel Barrymore as a ‘scrooge-type’ so that he would be the most hated man in the picture.” This, according to these sources, is a common trick used by Communists. The pressure eased up when a witness liked by the HUAC, ex-Communist screenwriter John Charles Moffitt, testified

Georges trust was betrayed by his alcoholic uncle, not by Potter.

No, Potter stole the money that the uncle left by accident on the counter.

Drab Bedford Falls lacks most of the bars, pool halls, bowling alleys and dance clubs that make Pottersville a lively city instead of a drab hamlet

Hmmm, in which hamlet would most prefer to raise their children?

Its just a bunch of catholic fu fu.

Incorrect. Catholics do no believe dead people become angles. No doubt you got that idea from a Protestant screenwriter. Capra resented his Catholic upbringing and was therefore, by definition, a Protestant.

And a man doesn't get assigned a guardian angel when he's forty-something years old, either.

It's all intended to be a simplistic, charming portrayal of how God works his influence on life here on earth.

Frank Capra got a lot of criticism over the years for the way the movie ended. Specifically, many viewers were upset that Potter was never taken to task for what he had done with the money that eventually drove George Bailey to despair.

Good news for them, they found the "lost ending."

Yelling and screaming are symptoms of depression leading up to suicidal thoughts. Very realistic.

I read an article a couple of years ago that points out that Pottersville looks like every liberal run city in America.

.
A vast amount of catholic art portrays men becoming angels, and portrays Peter standing at a gate with wings.

There is also a considerable amount that portrays female angels, which the word of God denies, and human looking angels in ‘heaven.’

Communism is government mandated “charity” at the point of a gun.

Its a Wonderful Life is about the benefits of being a charitable individual.

The angels that have wings have had them for at least 6000 years.

Nobody believes angels are dead humans, but how can you be certain of when all the winged angels (if there are any) got their wings?

That is plain wrong and a cheap shot. You aren’t going to find a single Catholic magisterial document supporting the position, and there are no grounds for attributing it to Catholicism in the film. Your last sentence is the Catholic position.

Your opening statement makes as much sense as saying that the decision for some one not to sing Amazing Grace on a particular occasion is a bunch of Methodist nonsense.
