I don’t believe Cruz is misusing Scripture. I believe we are definitely seeing forces of wickedness in the high places, and Cruz knows that. I think Screwtape would acknowledge that Satan plays terrible games by telling people that TRUTH doesn’t matter in the political realm. Satan is a liar who comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. You think Satan was not behind Hitler, Stalin, Mau? You dang right he was, and if he can keep the “little people” thinking that they are to be too “spiritual” to engage with the political world for the sake of truth, life, and justice, then he has disabled the whole armor of God including the only attack weapon we have: the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. If Satan can get us to think that the Word of God is being wrongly-wielded if it applies to the powers of darkness in high places, he’s got us EXACTLY where he wants us.
This is NOT an earthly battle. It is literally a spiritual Armageddon, and Ted Cruz is able to see that even if some Christians refuse to recognize the times we’re in.
Exactly. Some (not all) of the Cruz supporters are enough to turn people off of him. They remind me of the “Perry-dactyls” from the last election cycle. Most Trump supporters say they would vote for Cruz but very few Cruz supporters say the same.

So explain exactly how you think the full armor of God is not to be used against the forces of wickedness that seek to steal, kill, and destroy, as Obama and his hellish minions have done all these past 7 years. Exactly where does Scripture say that Satan draws a line at the word “political” and doesn’t seek to wield power within that nice little “safe zone” - politics - where evil doesn’t exist.

You are doing more to hurt your candidate than help and as a Bible scholar, theologian, and Christian apologist who runs a ministry devoted to helping cultists transition out and stop misusing scripture. In short, misuse of scripture and misusing Christ like Cruz does here not only ticks me off but it is my calling to counter these kinds of things. Try me - I do this for a living.

I would never have guessed you were in the ministry.
This is politics not spiritual warfare. I engage in spiritual warfare in a daily basis in counter cult ministry, it has nothing to do with politics. The US is not God’s chosen country or people but many seem to act like it is. Cruz is not God’s choice for president - God doesn’t have one.
The helmet of salvation (just one part of the armor) has nothing to do with being preparing for political attacks.
Lewis wrote about those who confuse politics and faith and eventually their faith becomes just one part of their politics. That is what Cruz and his supports are acting like.
Let him begin by treating the Patriotism or the Pacifism as a part of his religion. Then let him, under the influence of partisan spirit, come to regard it as the most important part. Then quietly and gradually nurse him on to the stage at which the religion becomes merely part of the “causeâ€â€¦ Once you have made the World an end, and faith a means, you have almost won your man, and it makes very little difference what kind of worldly end he is pursuing. Of course truth matters, I never said it didn’t but relious truth and polticial truth are not the same thing. Worldview matters as well (which is why I opposed Romney) but My faith is not my politics and should not be. I am politically active but I do not misuse the Bible for political gain - that is offensive to God. Your error is thinking that the US election of 2016 is Armageddon. It is not. We are not Israel. You want spiritual battles? Fight Mormons. Fight Muslims. Fight the cultists or those who misuse the gospel for their own gain (like Cruz is doing). Leave political battles to politics where they should be.
Title says Cruz gets Biblical. Cruz supporters are Christians like Ted. Big part of why we like him. Then you post that picture and comment. If anyone reading these threads is not saved, they will believe all the left says about Christianity.
So explain to me where in Scripture it says that Satan doesn’t venture into the left-hand kingdom as well as the right-hand kingdom. Do you really believe he has a “gentleman’s handshake” agreement not to delve beyond the boundaries of “politics”.
I am a Cruz and Trump supporter, and one of the biggest things I appreciate about BOTH of them is that they recognize the enemy we face. The one who steals, kills, and destroys, and for my money - and yes, I am trained as a theologian as well - that fits Jesus’ description of Satan to a T.
The enemy would like to divide us through “party spirit” - divisiveness of claiming Apollos, or Paul, or Silas, rather than uniting in Christ to battle Satan with the whole armor of God IN WHATEVER ARENA SATAN ENTERS. Satan is like Gandalf, keeping the trolls bickering about whether to boil or to bake the hobbits, until the sun came up and turned them to stone. We have a narrow opportunity to confront the minions of Hell which have INDEED entered the political arena. In the name of “political correctness” hundreds of thousands is not millions of innocent people are facing injustice and slaughter. There is a battle for Satan’s demon, Islam, to take over the entire world. A person would have to be crazy to say that Satan hasn’t entered the political arena.
In that arena if Trump will get in the ring and sweat it out for us while detractors criticize him for not appearing “collected”, the respect I lose is not for Trump but for those who don’t recognize the times we’re in.
In that arena if Cruz fights diplomatically, reminding people of the real enemy and the need to not get distracted by “boiling versus baking” discord initiated by our enemies, he gets my respect for that, and those who fail to heed to warning lose my respect.
In the mission field the number one reason that people quit is because they don’t get along with their fellow workers. The whole world can go to Hell, because interpersonal squabbles are more important than eternity. Any among us who sell America and truth, freedom, and justice for such a piddly bowl of personality soup need to wise up or be considered as Esau.
If you say Cruz is misusing Scripture by saying that Satan will fight those who stand against the thief who comes only to steal, kill, and destroy, then please show me the Scriptures you rely on to make that statement.
The GOP is full of self-righteous purists. The ones in my county are some of the nastiest, backstabbing two-faced people I know. Please if Cruz is your candidate that is good but realize that there are other people with differing opinions.
