Indian security forces battled into Sunday evening to secure an air base near the border with Pakistan, a day after a militant attack that has killed seven military personnel and wounded another 20.
As night fell, it was unclear whether two or more militants were still at large after Saturday's pre-dawn raid on the Pathankot air base in northwestern Punjab state. Four attackers have been confirmed killed.
...
Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi told reporters he hoped the two believed still to be at large would be "neutralized" overnight. Without recovering their bodies they could not be confirmed dead.
That contradicted earlier statements by home ministry and army officials who, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the two holdouts had been killed.

This is India.
For all we know, they may very well be pretty effective fighters. At least they don’t have to worry about the enemy’s civil rights.
The Indians stopped winning wars when they stopped eating meat.
However, most Hindus have given up vegetarianism. At least, that's what "google" says.
I remember China wanting to WIN in the Olympic games. They HAD given the lion's share of their meat to their military but started giving it to their athletes so they would start WINNING at world class athletics. It worked.
Except they have, literally, a million more of them. All ready to fight
What will we have after obama is done?
Nice furniture.
Most of the Indian army are Sikhs from Punjab. They are not vegetarians, and like good whiskey.
They appear to be Kalantak rifles.

We lived in the KSA for five years. Their military was so PATHETIC, though there were many of them and they were willing to fight, that the government hired foreigners to be their military.
The Saudi soldier who guarded our camp used to sit at his post, with one boot off. He would often pick his feet with his bayonet.
The KSA USED to have South Korean regulars cum contractors guarding the petroleum and natural gas wells, Rae Dik Dae Lim. It's Daelim Corp. now, and is still South Korean, but NOW it's in "energy and environment."
Obama is, as my hubby used to say about people like him, the "great do-nothing mystifier." Useless.
True enough. They were magnificent looking brutes, with their turbans and never-quit whiskers.
NO ONE ever gave them any flack.
Hey, they get one hardass point automatically if they regularly deploy over 10,000 feet ;-)
No question about it.
I parachuted out of a small plane once to cure my fear of heights. The better jumpers jumped at 10,000 feet. Wow! That was high.
I actually felt "relieved" that I jumped at a mere 1500 or 1800 feet; I can't remember anymore. Lol. How dumb was that?
By the way, it worked. I was no longer afraid of heights and I'm still not today all those decades later.
All I see is two grunts. And Indians have always fought bravely. Hate to see ant decent grunt slandered.
What the hell do you know about infantry? So what if he picked at his feet with a bayonet? True grunts do many many things that can cause the famous angry wife face. And last, comparing Saudi infantry to Indian infantry was the cherry on your cake of ignorance.

Oh glittering jewel of military ignorance. Please stop talking. He meant that if you are often humping the hills with a backpack at 10,000 feet, you get a badass point just for that. Not recreational skydiving.
("Gorkhas" = "Gurkhas" )
True enough.
