I had not heard about Richard Libertini’s passing. One of those guys you’ve seen in a million TV shows and movies, but most people don’t know his name. He usually played offbeat characters.

Not really, lots of small kids get it and die. It tends to not hit the 20’s-50’s much, but outside that, who knows there’s plenty in that range that get it too and die.

I’m a fan of supporting work and not wiseass ‘old age’ comments

To quote Tom Berrenger in Platoon; “Death? What do you all know about death?”

Another great quote about death:

“God is dead.” Nietzsche

“Nietzsche is dead.” God

That’s the kind of actor I would choose to be.

Earning a very good living yet still able to move around in public without the garbage press and/or public following you everyplace,

Ah the Death Pool. I’m afraid of who the next “winner” might be. Like we should start a prayer vigil for the likes of Clint Eastwood, Gene Wilder, etc.

I hadn’t heard about Richard Libertini until now. Good character actor.

RIP to all on the list. We’re losing a lot of an entertainment era lately.

To quote Tom Berrenger in Platoon; “Death? What do you all know about death?”

Sgt. O'Neill: Bob, I got a bad feeling on this one, all right? I mean, I got a bad feeling. I don't think I'm gonna make it out of here. You understand what I'm saying to you?

Sgt. Barnes: Everybody got to die sometime, Red.

I actually got to see (didn't introduce myself, however) and be around Rickman once at an art reception, back in the early 1990s. He was much shorter and considerably more homely in person!! Although he is one of my husband's and my FAVORITE actors, we neither of us would have recognized him, he looked so ... well, not nearly as dashing and compelling as on camera, at least at first, so much so that we thought, "Nah, that's not Alan Rickman." All doubts were removed, however, once he started speaking.

He also played the most wonderful knight-in-shining-armor hero in "Sense and Sensiblity," a "women's movie" (so I'd be surprised if you've seen it!) of Jane Austen's novel of the same name and which I have easily read at least a dozen times. Alan Rickman played the part so perfectly that he established himself as one of the world's most handsome men, to me, ever since!

If you've never seen Bottle Shock -- he's absolutely fabulous in it, NO BODY could have played that part as well as Rickman, he was perfect.

Capt. Miller (Tom Hanks) from “Saving Private Ryan.”

“When was the last time anyone had a good feeling about anything?”

You just never know. Bob Hope was starting to show up in death pools in the late 1970s, and checking, he lived to hit a hundred, in 2003.

What were the odds of a 22 year old Len Bias dying right after being drafted by the Celtics? Probably not on anybody's list beyond that of an extremely gifted actuary who happened to know Bias' dealer.

I screwed up. I should have done Lt Spiers from band of Brothers:

“The only hope you have is to accept the fact that you’re already dead. The sooner you accept that, the sooner you’ll be able to function as a soldier is supposed to function: without mercy, without compassion, without remorse. All war depends on it.”

The Howie Carr radio show has a death pool. Early in the show's run, probably early in the death pool feature, it went on well over a year before one of the 40-50 notable nominees kicked off.

However, the rule-of-three happened often enough for him to wait a few days to a week or so before starting it up again to clear out any also rans.

Especially if there are any public deathwatches going on. Even then there are the Castros and Zsa Zsa Gabors...

I think Olivia de Havilland is still alive.

Did you see this? I think it was going around (on FR?) at Christmas:

David Bowie e Bing Crosby - Little Drummer Boy (1982)

It’s good - lots of talking at the beginning until they get to singing.

More than you can say for Leo DiCaprio's in the latest Mountain Man pic.
