The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has said that Iran has fulfilled its initial obligations under the terms of the nuclear deal reached with world powers last July, paving the way for the first stage of sanctions relief.

The IAEA's announcement came just hours after a breakthrough prisoner swap with the United States saw four American citizens freed in return for the release of seven Iranians jailed in the US.

IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano hailed the announcement as "an important day for the international community."

Sanctions relief to Tehran will see billions of dollars in trade and unfrozen funds flow to the Islamic Republic, in return for it enacting limited curbs on its nuclear program.

Doing business with Iran is good for business and it was Rush Limbaugh himself who said the Corker Bill from the GOP was an enabling bill for Obama to lift sanctions so companies like Boeing (the ‘military industrial complex’) and so on would benefit.

Back in the 1970’s the Soviets were appeased by the GOPe with things like Henry Kissinger and Gerald Ford’s Helsinki Agreement.

At the same time the US was fighting the Soviets in a surrogate civil war in Angola. We helped South Africa in that war fighting the 30,000 Cuban soldiers sent in to help the other side.

Now we will appease Iran even as we oppose their side of the Syrian and Yemeni civil wars currently underway.

APPEASEMENT AND CONTAINMENT WERE THE KEY ITEMS IN UNIPARTY FOREIGN POLICY THEN AND NOW.

WHY?

SO BIG INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS AND BANKS CAN BENEFIT......THE LEADERS SEE THAT AS A MORE ‘PEACEFUL WORLD’

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) was the only senator to oppose the bill. He said in a statement that he objected that the deal was not to be presented to the Congress as a treaty.

I note his NO vote but I also note how easy it was to vote NO since everyone else was voting YES.

Cotton wasn’t stopping the bill but giving himself an issue to talk about back home.

I have more questions than answers when I see how politicians do their thing in Washington.

Interesting that you *explain* Cottons no vote as dishonest political maneuvering but you dont have any *explanation* for the yes vote from Cruz or the other *conservatives*.
