There you have it! Ted Cruz supported Keystone XL because he really IS a Canadian! ;-)
Ted promised not to get into any personal attacks - he never said he wouldn't go after another candidate's record. So while Ted will not attack Trump's wife or kids, or attack Trump personally (you know, like calling him "nasty"), he will highlight Trump's past business practices, since Trump is largely running on his business experience and he has no other record to speak of.
Yes, thank you. I don’t know why I typed New Britain.
Trump is the only candidate who supports that tyrannical decision.
I never said that Trump was a director of GS.
It takes both a government employee and a private citizen to engage in crony capitalism.
You get it now?
And thanks friendly Trump supporter for asking the dumb question whether I "post crap".
The Right needs to quit using misleading Leftist terms like “crony capitalism” which implies there’s something wrong with capitalism. We really are living in Orwell’s “1984” where words are used for applications exactly the opposite of the words’ true meaning.
The Right needs to call political corruption what it is: “POLITICAL CORRUPTION.” The Left ALWAYS avoids talking about the $4 trillion, mostly unconstitutional, 800-pound federal government gorilla in the room and they make up misleading expressions like “crony capitalism” that the stupid Right goes along with. Enough already. More political correctness as far as I’m conserved.
When was the last time the Left delved into the realities of the PERVASIVE political corruptness (not just Hillary) of the unconstitutional federal government. Unconstitutional federal acts are by definition “corrupt” and lead to corrupt results.
Enough already. The Right needs to quit using Leftist terms and call political corruption what it is. The Right needs to identify and incinerate political correctness which itself is also corrupt.
That is a classic strawman argument. You take an example that has nothing to do with the case at hand and try to use that to support your argument. There is nothing even remotely similar to using eminent domain for a public works project and using it to benefit one particular person.
Ted now claims that he supports a border wall. Does he think it’s possible to build a border wall without the use of imminent domain? When it comes down to watering some south Texas cattle or building the wall, what will Ted do?
Eminent domain is a constitutionally-protected government function. The more libertarian among us don’t like it, but it’s provided for for “public need” — a road, a school, a hospital, that kind of thing.
To use it just to take property in order to give it to a developer to develop something that will generate more tax revenues is an improper use of eminent domain, and a violation of the takings clause. But the Supreme Court’s liberal bloc ruled that it was OK to do that.
Every major-party candidate from Sanders to Cruz opposes that ruling — except one: Donald J. Trump. He has used the government in a similar way himself.
This marks him as a crony capitalist, not a market capitalist.
thanks for that post. It will come in handy to combat the folks who hate on Trump.
Ted's position has never been that there should be no eminent domain.
Abuse of eminent domain is crony caitalism when someone’s property is taken and then given/sold to a privte entity for privte purpose.
Crony Capitalism is when a company uses the power of government to abuse the rights of a private citizen; just like Trump did to that lady’s property.
My post was a was a question, not a statement of anyone's position. Read more carefully.
I watched the ad. I thought it was pretty good. It wasn’t a lie. Trump IS for eminent domain and for big property owners.
There was no nasty or personal criticism in it.
My mistake and my apologies, I confused you with another poster.
It takes both a government employee and a private citizen to engage in crony capitalism.
Oh I get that, kind of like what's worse, the John or the prostitute. Thing is, in todays America it's pay to play. I hate it, but until we can change it...
And thanks friendly Trump supporter for asking the dumb question whether I "post crap".
If you had posted the DT was a director of GS, then yes it would have not only been crap, it is an out and out lie.
But I already apologized for confusing you with another poster, I admit my errors.
Thanks for posting. I did the same on another thread, but I don’t think it matters to the Trumpeteers. They think The Donald’s parking lot is more important than some silly pipeline.
I hope Cruz continues to hammer this issue. A lot of folks are still undecided and this exposes Trumps true colors
The new establishment conservative cartel is missing the boat. They’re not going to defeat Trump with snipey inside politics tripe.
Trump recognized the anger building up within the people against the corrup establishment’s destructive policies and he made bold non-PC proposals to directly attack the major problems:
Build the wall!
Deport them ALL!
Enforce the law!
End sanctuary cities!
End anchor babies!
Repeal Obamacare!
Dump common core!
Dump the corrupt establishment!
End the war on Christianity!
Cut the taxes!
Cut the regulations!
Cut the EPA!
Cut the bad trade deals!
Bring back manufacturing!
Bring back capital!
Bring back the jobs!
Bomb the shit out of ISIS!
Slap a moratorium on the Muslim invasion!
Rebuild our military so no one dares mess with us!
Make America Great Again!
Any conservative candidate could have made these proposals and would have been the leader in this rebellion. Bush didn’t. Rubio didn’t. Nor did Carson. Kasich, Santorum, Fiorina, et al. Nor did Cruz. Most of them support some of these ideas or are coming around to them, but all were afraid to take some of the bolder steps.
Except Trump.
He says to hell with political correctness, to hell with the media, to hell with the establishment cartel, to hell with Obama, to hell with Bush, to hell with the entrenched liberals and to hell with the entrenched “conservatives.” Here’s the problem — let’s fix it!
Cruz would be a challenger if he takes a similar bold stand and fight for America. But not by pussyfooting around with the new establishment conservative cartel.
That’s because Trump is the only one of those you mention that was in business. People get so confused between business and government and that is exactly what the Left wants. Business looks for profits. Nothing wrong with that. It is how wealth is created. If government unconstitutionally provides a business with big profits, the business is doing its job by making the transaction. It is not the business’ job to worry about the Constitution. The Constitution limits and restricts THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, not the free market.
The problem is UNCONSTITUTIONAL GOVERNMENT. The eminent domain is absolutely within the scope of constitutional limitations. The illegality and corruption is the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. It is NOT crony capitalism, it is GOVERNMENTAL AND POLITICAL CORRUPTION.
How the Left continues to succeed in getting the Right constantly distracted from the real problem which is the $4 trillion mostly unconstitutional federal government beast. The Left are snakes. But to the Right, especially the Christian Right, the Bible says “be wise as snakes, but harmless as doves.” The Right need to get smart and quit promoting Leftist terms and thinking.
It is the government’s job to keep eminent domain restricted for valid “public use” (Amendment V). If they don’t then it is government that is acting unconstitutionally and illegally, not free enterprise. It is political corruption, not the fantasy of “crony capitalism.”
Regards.
Cruz supports the Constitutional use of EM and not the abuse of it.
