Could The Trump Effect Be Huge?
Rush Limbaugh.com ^ | February 1,2016 | Rush Limbaugh

RUSH: What our last caller was trying to point out, he was saying that -- and he's obviously a Trumpster. So he's speculating. He's hoping. He's hoping that Trump wins big. He's hoping that Trump wins by bigger margins than whatever were predicted by the polling here in Iowa, then in New Hampshire. And if the polls are right, the guy may get his wish. But we won't know for a while. So his theory is -- his hope is -- that if that happens, that if Trump ends up scorching the field, that that is going to bring a bunch of Democrats over.

Because everybody wants to be part of what's happening now. Everybody wants to be part of what's winning. But his theory is the Democrats will never say so, in polling. He said no... 'Cause the Democrats, the voters are gonna assume that all pollsters are Democrats, so when they call or their computers call and ask 'em for their preference, they're all gonna say Hillary or Bernie, whoever the Democrat nominee is. But his theory is that if Trump wins big, that that's gonna automatically attract a lot of Democrats.

But we won't know it until Election Day, just like we didn't know that Ronaldus Magnus was gonna win in a landslide really until that night. Do you realize the last serious, credible poll one week before the election had Jimmy Carter winning by eight in 1980? And that election was over before the polls closed in California. Jimmy Carter conceded. He said, "No mas, no mas." Before they'd even shut down in California. That was a 47-state landslide, and then 49 states in 1984, running against Walter Mondale.

But nobody knows that, of course. That was just a Trump voter speculating and hoping.

I just got a text from an Iowa farmer who has gone to caucus for 5 decades.

“Never seen so many media and so many people.”

Hoping to hear more later.

You misspelled yuge. Although I’m a Cruz fan, perhaps in the spirit of the election cycle we can replace hugh and series with yuge and series. Shirley we could come together on that?

My preference is Cruz, so obviously I hope he does well tonight.

I do believe, though, that if in the end it is Trump, it is going to be a blow-out. The Dems are in disarray, and I believe any Repub will win this year. But if its Trump, a significant number of Dems will cross over and vote for him, and it will be dramatic.

I assume you discount the poll often cited that shows 60% negative for Trump among all voters. I am not saying it's valid; in fact, it's countered by a Fox poll that shows Trump defeating "the beest" by 3 percentage points. Both can't be right. Something's fishy.

Let me be the first to THANK Rush for starting this movement in 2009. Never forget it was RUSH who came out publicly and said we should not compromise with Obama (when his positives were like 80%). It was Rush who said we needed to standup to Obama. Within a year the Teaparty was born, and the rest is history ...

It could be. In which case the real question for historians years from now will be whether the republic began to tank in 1992, 2000, 2008, or 2016.

You mean the way Trump supporters will come together with Republicans and support the other obvious nominee if Trump comes in at 3rd or 4th place tonight?

There is a price to pay for Trump’s scorched earth primary campaign tactics. The supporters of the Targets of his attacks will not easily forget his behavior. He will be hard pressed to convince the 59% or Republicans that do not support him to come on board after he spewed Democrat talking points against his fellow Republicans all through the primary.

Very large turnout in Iowa according to CNN. People are in line out the door. He just asked first timers to raise their hands, maybe half did. Looks great for Trump (and Sanders).

I’d vote for any of the non-amnesty candidates, that would be Cruz and Santorum.

I did not vote for McAmnesty and will never vote for Yeb!, Rubio, Kasuck or Christie.
I will not endorse national suicide.
You’ll have to do it without my vote.
