“I wonder if now, for the first time in human history, Arabs can enforce peace in their region.”
What’s the point spread?
And 20,000 Bazooka guys, and 10,000 of the “follow me” officer guy...
huge numbers, but can they use the equipment. Didn’t we destroy like 4k tanks in the Gulf War and lose a handful?
how would their jet fighters do against Russia?
their tanks?
anyone have an idea?
I suppose you want odds with that?
Sure, not that I’d take such a wild bet.
Given the size of the logistical tail required for fuel *alone*, I tend to doubt it.
Unless it's something more like this:
The AMX-30. Isn't that the one with five gears for reverse? /rim-shot>
+1
all of this supporting ISIS...or the SUNNI REBELS...same thing.
Good one!
Has an automatic whip that comes up and displays a white flag, too.
...you spelled "reverse" wrong!
LOL!!
Since this whole ISIS debacle started, I have maintained that the US could run the table with a single Armored Cav Regiment, augmented with some additional attack helicopter assets and some A10s.
ISIS consists primarily of poorly trained light infantry, fighting a conventional war, in a part of the world where concealment is scarce.
...you forgot the that UK also supplied the Saudis.
This drill must have put Israel on alert...or the Saudis are Israel’s new buddy with the threat from Iran.
The US could have, should have and would have done MANY things but we do not have a Commander & Chief right now so forget about any serious US involvement. The next US President will have a horrendous task in front of him.
The 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment that I was in for Desert Storm could have wiped out ISIS easily. With the new equipment, I’m not so sure... Striker is just not as good as an M1A1.
Eagle Troop veteran of the Battle of 73 Easting.
This is probably an embarrassing Faux Pas by the journalists/editors. They had few details, so they most likely added up the entire ORBATs of the participating nations so that the figure came up cool and trended well!
IMET and military sales..
“Not much, really. At least 18,500 of said tanks are either M-48 Patton or T-55s.
And, they’ll stay in their home countries with the Mig-17s and F-86s of their air forces.”
There hasn’t been M-48s or Mig-17s in the region since the ‘70s.
M1A1s, T-72s and F16s is the current baseline for these nations.
Sudan?
