To be truly multicultural we should add this doctrine to the living document of the Constitution.
The part right before Pickens hits DeLuise (specifically what DeLuise says) is what this story reminded me of, of course.

No - silence as a weapon is to ignore. Like when someone tells me it’s over, don’t bother calling, and then later I see her & she flashes a big smile & I lock my eyes straight ahead & brush past her without speaking.
That was long ago. I’ve been happily married to someone else for years.
