Lincoln was the one who re-framed the American narrative in terms of Equality and popular democracy: his “new birth of freedom”. We will not recover from the damage he did.

Also the Monday Federal holiday standardization happened. Remember when Washington’s or Lincoln’s birthday could cause midweek days off?
More people have seen ten dollar bills than hundred dollar bills.

Yeah, I didn’t get here to the South until 1971.
Then I was immediately schooled in the subject of The Northern Aggression.
