Campaign 2016: Nobody Cares About Climate Change [But Cruz Focuses on Energy, Jobs and the Economy]
The American Spectator ^ | February 17, 2016 | Marita Noon

Frustrated that nobody seems to care about climate change, "the country's biggest individual political donor during the 2014 election cycle" has pledged even more in 2016. Tom Steyer spent nearly $75 million in the 2014 midterms, reports Politico. He intends to "open his wallet even wider" now.

But just what do his millions get him in this "crucial election"? Based on history, not much.

In 2014, his NextGen Climate Action group specifically targeted seven races. Only three went his way, i.e. to Democrats.

In Iowa, the group "invested in billboards and television and radio, newspaper and web ads," to target Republicans and "agitate for more conversation about the topic in debates." According to Politico, NextGen "attempted to convince Iowans to caucus for a candidate based on that candidate's energy plan." They "identified over 42,000 voters in the state who tapped climate change as a voting priority"..."over 1,500 were registered Republicans." With 357,983 people participating the Iowa caucus, Steyer's efforts reflect just 11.7 percent of voters and less than 1 percent of Republicans.

Steyer's millions were spent trying to get people to vote based on "energy plans." Only one candidate's energy policy got any real media coverage: Ted Cruz's opposition to the Renewable Fuel Standard, also known as the ethanol mandate. He won the Republican caucus, ahead of Donald Trump who pandered to the powerful lobbying group: America's Renewable Future........

[Big Snip]

...But don't tell Steyer - or Senator Bernie Sanders. Steyer has praised Sanders for his public stand on climate change, saying that he's brought it up "repeatedly," calling it a "national security issue" and "the number one issue facing Americans" - despite the fact that polling indicates otherwise....

"....The influential donor called for a new climate-change focused debate in September, and reiterated this week his displeasure with the schedule and the debate moderators' lack of questions on the topic.

"We were worried about [whether candidates] would address it. And in fact they've been way better than the moderator or interlocutors of the debates, which have basically stunk," said Steyer.

"Everyone realizes that the Democrats made a horrible decision to have few debates, to hold them underwater on Christmas Eve. We have three great candidates, why would we not want to show that to the American people? And for whatever reason, we hid that light under a bushel." Politico

Which just goes to show, money doesn't = smarts.

**********************************

Ted Cruz has done his homework, he's advocates for conservative, free market principles and he understands the issues.

Watch how Ted Cruz explains to an angry farmer, who eventually quiets down to listen, how he is going to help farmers.

All subsidies - across the board - oil, gas, wind, solar, ethanol are gone; EPA fuel blend, gone.

Death tax, gone.

Happy Iowan: How Cruz "Crushed" Ethanol [and helps farmers] - "Hot d*mn!" a gentleman shouted from the back of the room. Feb 3rd FR Thread

Cruz: Climate change issue is 'about government power'

[Video of Cruz responding to a "dirty air, dirty water" global warming question.]

Sen Cruz begins by explaining that he is the son of scientists and then goes on for 8 fact filled minutes to explain that man made global warming is driven by an agenda to have government power over the citizenry - that he Chairs the Science Technology Committee.

Ted Cruz passionately details the global warming science fraud and how jobs and our economy have been crippled by Obama's so-called "clean power regulations"

***********************************

The Supreme Court just put the Left's Clean Power Plan on hold, prompting new attacks on Ted Cruz by the Left.

Greens faced with nightmare scenario at the Supreme Court

Now the EPA cannot enforce any parts of the rule until the litigation is over, a major win for the states and energy interests who argued that, if the rule were allowed to proceed and later be overturned, they would experience irreparable harm.

But since the Clean Power Plan is such a major piece of the administration's climate policy, its downfall would make it difficult to achieve the emissions cuts needed to slow global warming and to meet the country's pledge under last year's Paris climate agreement.

Complicating the matter is the timing. The Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit has to hear the case and rule before the Supreme Court takes it up, putting any decision about the next steps in the hands of the next president. ....

Feb 16, 2016: Mugabe First To U.N. Trough In Global Warming Shakedown

"Corruption: Zimbabwe tyrant Robert Mugabe is asking the United Nations for $1.5 billion a year to feed his people, who he says are hungry due to global warming. The looting begins.....

....."Any money which falls into Mugabe's hands is unlikely to be spent on food, or if it is, he will be very selective about who receives the food," says climate blogger Eric Worrall.

"Make no mistake, if the promised U.N. climate cash starts flowing in Africa," Mugabe and other "vicious political thugs who are well enmeshed in pan-African diplomacy.... will collar the lion's share."

Tupy calls the Green Climate Fund a "slush fund" for the world's dictators, and he's exactly right because Mugabe won't be the only one to dip into the treasure that was made just for them. One by one and in groups, they will come with their demands, and they will leave with their hands full. The productive citizens in advanced nations will be poorer, and so will the poor souls who live under the tyrants' boots. Only the malevolent leaders and those in their elite circles will be better off.

This, of course, is perfectly in line with the U.N.'s goal to "intentionally transform the economic development model for the first time in human history," as Christiana Figueres, executive secretary of U.N.'s Framework Convention on Climate Change, has put it. It is ."

1. The link in your article was written before Scalia’s convenient and untimely death.

2. Since Global Warming is nothing but a fraud, Tom Steyer either has other investments depending on the success of solar and wind or he’s a case of ‘a fool and his money are soon parted’.

Jan 19, 2015: Trump calls for higher ethanol mandate Donald Trump said Tuesday that federal regulators should increase the amount of ethanol blended into the nation's gasoline supply.

Speaking at an event hosted by the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association, Trump, a real estate mogul and the front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, said the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ought to follow the ethanol volumes Congress set in 2007.

"The EPA should ensure that biofuel... blend levels match the statutory level set by Congress under the [renewable fuel standard]," Trump said........"

Solar is economically dead in the water without subsidies. Musk (Solar City) has walked away from Arizona, is ditching Nevada, and New Mexico's market is collapsing.

Despite Tax Credit Extension, Threats Facing SolarCity Corp Are Far From Over

"..Residential solar companies present themselves as low-risk companies with long-term contracts, but they may not be as safe as they appear. The savings they provide to customers are built on energy policies that are under attack and won't likely last for long. Even California is building its plan for Net Energy Metering 2.0, which won't be as friendly to solar companies as NEM 1.0 was -- something investors will want to consider before going all-in on rooftop solar..."

Energy Dept Spends $7 Million On North Alaska Solar Power, Except It's Dark 24/7 [Feb 16, 2016]

"The Department of Energy (DOE) announced Monday it will provide $7 million in technical support for solar power to Native Alaskan tribes, especially those in the far north.

The parts of Alaska where the DOE intends to spend the cash have nearly 24 hours of darkness in the winter, which is precisely when Alaskans need the most electricity. Alaska has nearly 24 hours of sunlight during the summer, but that's when demand for power is at its lowest point as there's no need to crank up the heat. Alaska's harsh winters make the state's per capita energy consumption the third highest in the nation.

The villages which will receive the cash influx don't actually have much demand for power and are currently reliant upon diesel generators."...............

That decision was only to put a stay on it until it would be reviewed by the Supremes I believe in June.

Now that the Supremes would be, at best, deadlocked, the Appeals Court decision will stand.

Corn is for eating, not burning. It is wasteful and inefficient. It also drives up the cost of food.

These new regulations have destroyed the coal industry.

And it is all based upon scientific fraud.

On top of everything else, wildlife is being decimated by these solar and wind farms.

Trump said he'll make government more efficient, that he won't cut services (he'll cut waste).

Trump will be a better manager of Big Government and Subsidies [the winners and losers].

EPA/Education: "No, I'm not cutting services, but I'm cutting spending. But I may cut Department of Education (Common Core)"...

(Common Core, by the way, isn't a federal mandate: and he will leave in place EPA services - as in dictates?)

See how Trump massages his position?

October 2015 - Trump isn't going to GUT the EPA, he's going to make it more efficient ..."I'm not cutting services, but I'm cutting spending,", Trump told Wallace... [but the headline claims] Trump Vows To Cut 'Disgraceful' EPA .

Doesn’t it upset you that Trump’s sister overturned a ban on partial-birth infanticide in NJ, and Donald Trump says she would make a good SCOTUS justice?
