Now for a short public service announcement to all on FR:
We need to ensure we don't get another Obama-like America Hater as the next President.
The best way to ensure that is to actively support a candidate (even if he's "rich enough to do it on his own") as the next President.
I donate to the candidate I support and you should too, else, your "support" really doesn't have any meaning.
It's even worse if you use FR and don't donate. If you are one of those who feel it's OK to use FR daily w/o helping pay to keep the lights on, then please don't complain about the welfare leeches because, functionally, you are no different than any other who enjoys the fruits of others' work for your own benefit. Also, don't be surprised if others decide that your opinions are as worthless as your non-donations - hypocrites aren't worth listening to.
PS - If you are one of those unlucky few who cannot afford even a small donation to FR or a candidate, God Bless and happy FReeping!.....

Your post reminds me of when I inadvertently allowed my NRA membership to lapse due to moving out of state (Cali.), and a month later in my new home I received a forwarded letter from the NRA stating: “It’s because of people like you who fail to support...” etc.. After spending decades as an avid NRA supporter, I vowed to never EVER give that organization another red cent.
And you stopped making use of the benefits of NRA membership at the same time - many here like having it both ways and have opted not to donate anything while making full use of the FR Forum.
Your post reminds me of an acquaintance I have that happens to be a proponent of Socialism - he feels that since there are programs out there that offer him "free" stuff, he has no responsibility toward actually working and earning something for himself -- all the while complaining on how he has to get by with so little.
You should jon us during one of our "conversations" - you could side with him....

Your reaction to my veiled concern over your tactic is to attack, not comfort. The service you provide exists solely on donations from others, donations acquired via shaming and strong arming, but I’m the socialist? A little introspection may serve you well. Don’t forget, you can solidify your totalitarian musings at anytime by freezing my account, or otherwise banning me from your website. If an outright ban is not doable on your end, then I shall continue to visit this website free of the burden of any donation.

I'm not in charge here - I'm one of the donors that help pay for the service that so many believe should be free to them ...just because. I know a lot of folks with Obama phones, paid for by others, and they also use them "free of the burden of any donation".
How can one with no shame, and who feels no burden of responsibility, "be intimidated by solicitations for donations"?????
