“In fact, I think it would be reasonable to question whether he actually has “real positions” on many important issues.”

That’s a reasonable question to ask regarding any candidate. Here’s what I see happening from those who are anti-Trump. He has policy positions up on his website. At his rallies he states, with consistency what he wants to do as President & his focus is on re-establishing the rule of law regarding illegal aliens, securing our borders, destroying ISIS, lowering taxes & defending our nation among other important things. If people don’t like or believe what he says, that’s fine. That’s America. But the information about what his positions are on those issues are there for any who want to learn about them.

If you prefer, Cruz over Trump that’s great. Build your guy up & support him as best you can. I’ll never call you names or suggest you’ve been duped or speak poorly of you in these forums ever. Just afford me as a Trump supporter the same respect, k?

Have a very happy Super Tuesday :)

When he said “the government’s gonna pay for it” you have to listen to the full unabridged context. He talks about this in every rally and every town hall and every debate. Repeal Obamacare and return to private plans. Remove the limitations of competition across state lines that cause monopolies. He always ends by saying there will be people so poor they can’t afford a private plan and he will not leave them to die on the sidewalks. In the debates and town halls he gets asked who is going to pay for it? He says the government is going to pay for it. But he’s only talking about the safety net for the very poor. Then Ted Cruz or Fox News shamelessly cuts and pastes the comments out of context to make it sound like he’s saying what he’s not saying.

Don’t let people spoon feed a cut and pasted montage of statements from six different interviews. Find an interview and watch the whole thing.

This happens every time: conservative Republicans vet their candidates according to whether they are pure enough conservatives. The problem is that there aren’t enough pure conservatives in the electorate for a candidate to win the general by appealing only to pure conservatives. Heck, apparently there aren’t even enough pure conservatives in the Republican party to nominate one if their own.

I wish 60% of all voters were true conservatives, but can’t we concede that this is not the case?

To win the presidency, a candidate must somehow appeal to independents and democrats. Reagan somehow did that while sounding like a true conservative. How he pulled that off I’ll never know. He was an extremely talented politician and Jimmy Carter was an absolute train wreck.

I don’t think conservatives are doing our candidates any favors by making them publicly swear allegiance to conservative principles. It makes them unelectable, like Ted Cruz. Thank God Trump doesn’t let himself get pushed around this way.

I’m pretty sure he’ll govern more conservatively than Hilary Clinton, and he’s the only one who stands a chance against her in this Democrat leaning nation.
