Donald Trump’s Tampa Office Is an Unlikely Melting Pot
NY Times ^

Posted on 03/13/2016 8:46:50 PM PDT by springwater13

For a campaign frequently depicted as offering a rallying point for the white working class, the people volunteering to help Mr. Trump here are noteworthy for their ethnic diversity. They include a young woman who recently arrived from Peru; an immigrant from the Philippines; a 70-year-old Lakota Indian; a teenage son of Russian immigrants; a Mexican-American.

They range the political spectrum, too, from lifelong Democrat to independent to libertarian to conservative Republican. To a person, they condemned and sometimes ridiculed David Duke and other white supremacists who have noisily backed Mr. Trump. “I totally do not agree with them,” said one volunteer, Andrew Cherry. Presidential Election 2016 Here’s the latest news and analysis of the candidates and issues shaping the presidential race.

Yet like Mrs. Linsky, many spoke openly about how fears centered on race and ethnicity were at the heart of their support for Mr. Trump. To a large extent, they traced those fears to the scars they still bear from the Great Recession — lost jobs, drained 401(k)’s, home foreclosures, rising debt, the feeling that the country is broken.

More than anything, several Trump volunteers here said, the Great Recession exposed a corrupt, out-of-touch ruling class in Washington that allows big corporations to outsource jobs at will while doing nothing to address millions of illegal immigrants who compete for jobs and drain government coffers. In Mr. Trump, they say, they see a potential antidote to all of this. A man too wealthy to be bought or co-opted. A man with the blunt-force clarity to declare that he is ready to Make America Great Again.

“I think we’ve come to the conclusion that our country is falling apart, and we have to take care of it,” Mrs. Linsky said.

Oh there are some jabs in there that claim Trump supporters to be racists, but it's as balanced as you're going to get out of that DNC fish wrapper.

It only became "noisily" when you guys thought you had the magical tweets that verified your pre-conceived notion that all republicans are in the KKK

The NYT is part of the race-baiting slime that is painting Trump and Trumpeteers as racist and they are shocked, shocked!, to find diversity in Trump’s campaign office and they have the gall to act as if they don’t play a role in the caricature.

Zackly. You take all the women and minorities and young people out of the Trump rallies and all you're left with is a bunch of old white men.

Am I right, New York Times? Up high!

Oops. Wait. I mean, down low. Way down low.

Bunch of jerks.

Seriously, Duke in no way was noisy, nobody pays attention to him. No one was even aware he was still alive until the media kept bringing up one comment he made on his radio show that nobody listens to and it wasn’t even an endorsement.

The should watch the video of the LEGAL Mexican immigrant that Trump brought on stage today in Bloomington. The LEGAL immigrant almost began crying he was so happy to meet & support Trump.

Amazing the NY Slimes & GOPe are so surprised to see Americans of various backgrounds love their country & want to help Trump take it back.

The great part about it, is after all the smearing by the media & GOPe, people can see through it & still support Trump. Like he said in yesterday’s rally - It’s Payback Time

“...David Duke and other white supremacists who have noisily backed Mr. Trump.”

The presstitutes at the NY Times aren’t low info. They know damn well that David Duke never endorsed Trump, nor has any other white supremacist (that I know of).

At least they got the diversity part right. Trump is drawing support from a wider range of demographics than any Republican presidential candidate in my memory.
