Oh really, you don’t think little kids have questions?
Are educators to ignore these question and just lecture without explanation?

The subject is Bible classes in public school. No thank you.

They all go to church on Sunday and learn from the Good Book.

But, if you are going to allow the bible, someone will demand they include the Koran.

I don't have a problem with that, so long as the full Koran is taught. The truth will come out IMO.

I've taught Old Testament to 6th graders in my parish for nearly 20 years. There are so many great life lessons in their for middle schoolers, and that's what we focus on.

I expand the curriculum by discussing the parallels with the New Testament for these young Catholics. I see it as a necessity, as there are several references to the Old Testament in our church, such as stained glass windows of four prophets, and a depiction of the Transfiguration, with Elijah and Moses flanking Jesus.

Getting back to your point, I'm very concerned that a white washed version of the Koran will be taught.

Let them. It should be an elective and do not force any attendance.

It should only be offered at a junior or senior level and not for younger students. I took classes to learn how my enemies think.

Being that you are Catholic, would you approve of your child going to public school being taught the bible by a teacher of the Pentecostal faith or other faiths that might approve of homosexuality?

The class I took focused more on the writing styles and content came with it if you paid attention, but it was not the focus.

I would agree to that, a jr. or sr. should be able to resonate as to what and how they would interpret scripture.

I'm on the local school board and I am fighting the good fight to incorporate Judeo Christian concepts into what they call education

I can tell you this;

YOUR local public high school graduated X number of kids in June and MAYBE 2 showed up at the polls last November ... because YOUR high school, JUST LIKE MINE, did nothing to teach anything political nor give the seniors any understanding of our bicameral system

What they did was put an entire class of socialists out into the world, eligible to vote, but not wanting to and I contest that ... if a young mind had some basic elements of responsibility to their nation, they would take part in it

I believe that a Judeo Christian understanding of who I am, what am I doing here and what should I do, would go as far as it did when our nation was struggling to "make it" and there was "religious" language common to our vocabulary

EVERYONE knew about the "good book"

I disagree to the point that public school should not be a venue for missionary work.

Wonderful!
I believe driving the Lord from America is causing most of our troubles.
America has always been the greatest country the world has ever known because it was founded on Christian/Judeo principals.

You use the language of a provocateur

NO ONE is suggesting missionary work

Read the article

They're trying to get concepts into the minds of the young

Where did Bernie's kids come from ?

public schools, by and large and those public schools had carte blanche from the public schooled parents that birthed those kids because the NEA has been working very hard at destroying any and every thing Christion at least since the 60's

Listen to the language of too many TV speakers .... they begin their sentence with the word, "So"

These are people that probably have had at least 2 years of some kind of graduate studies and NO EDUCATOR HAS ATTEMPTED TO RID THE SPEAKER OF THAT LANGUAGE FLAW

There thesus probubly looked like this and they got an A for it

Sure, some will demand the Koran.

Screw ‘em. The Koran is the field manual of our enemy.

To those who have perhaps forgotten, recall the Founders’ phrase “Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God . . . “

Islam commands its slaves to do evil. It stands athwart the Law of Nature.

OTOH, the Bible is the Law of Nature’s God, and therefore belongs in the classroom.

They already teach the koran in the public schools and have the students recite the shahadha in class, which is the declaration of faith in islam. Christianity is suppose to be taught in class but was bunched together with Judaism on the same day where as Islam was taught over the whole two weeks.

Actually, that’s a good thing. Everyone needs to read it, to see for themselves that violence against nonbelievers is not only encouraged, but required as a trial to show loyalty to Allah.

An ELECTIVE class...I see no problem there.

Preaching to the choir, as they say, or for those whom truly wish to understand/learn/know (IE: voluntary).

My faith is strong enough that it wouldn't bother me. I'm not a cradle Catholic, I converted in my early 40s. I would definitely keep track of what they're teaching, to inform my son of any differences in the instruction and our faith. He's been in religious ed at our church since first grade, and he'll be confirmed in a couple of months. He's a smart kid, and very conservative.

IMHO...no religion of any kind in schools!

Schools should stick to the old R,W. and A only, so to speak.

Educational Bible schools could be taught (BY CHOICE) at other locations, such as Trade schools are now.

AND Muslims should stick to their own schools period, because of their obstructive ways in others lives. Trade schools for Muslims should also be for muslims only and visa versa.

If you can read the Koran, you can read the Bible.
