Bernie Sanders Seizes 3 States, Sweeping Democratic Contests
NY Times ^ | MARCH 26, 2016 | AMY CHOZICK

Senator Bernie Sanders routed Hillary Clinton in all three Democratic presidential contests on Saturday, infusing his underdog campaign with critical momentum and bolstering his argument that the race for the nomination is not a foregone conclusion.

Mr. Sanders found a welcome tableau in the largely white and liberal electorates of the Pacific Northwest, where just days after resoundingly beating Mrs. Clinton in Idaho he repeated the feat in the Washington caucuses, winning 73 percent of the vote. He did even better in Alaska, winning 82 percent of the vote, and in Hawaii, he had 71 percent with a few precincts still be counted, according to The Associated Press.

Washington, the largest prize Saturday with 101 delegates in play, was a vital state for Mr. Sanders, whose prospects of capturing the nomination dimmed after double-digit losses to Mrs. Clinton across the South and weak showings in delegate-rich Ohio, Florida and North Carolina this month. As of Saturday evening, Mrs. Clinton had roughly 280 more pledged delegates, who are awarded based on voting, and 440 more superdelegates — party leaders and elected officials — than Mr. Sanders.

>>Republicans may try to “steal” the nomination from him. Well, if he can’t work that deal, how is he going to work any other deal? <<

This is a complete non sequitur.

Trump is winning in State count, Trump is winning the Delgate count and Trump is winning the vote count by 2 million votes over the next closest competitor. Furthermore, Trump is winning the Free Republic Caucus Count.

It will not be a business as usual with Trump and both parties understand this. Hence, the vicious attacks from both sides. I have no doubt of Jeb, Rubio, Kasich had the lead Trump does then the RNC would be saying this race is over.

The problem is you Cruz supporters are very one dementional and do not understand the steaks. You fail to understand what is a Globalist vs a Nationalist. The Globalist (aka the Establishment) are the problem and the people destroying our Republic via illegal immigration rigged trade deals, common core, climate change, endless wars and endless spending that will turn future Amercan generations into financial debt slaves. We are already 19 Trillion in debt and that does not include the total ammount.

Cruz is a 1st term Senator that’s only 1/2 way through, and he is already running for U.S. President. That alone should set off alarm bells. Moreover, he had duel citizenship until 18 months ago. What major a accomplishment has Cruz done in the last 3 years? Answer: Nothing. So what makes you think Cruz, who is hated by most of the U.S. Senate will be able to accomplish anything as a U.S. President?

ou fail to understand what is a Globalist vs a Nationalist.

You can blame the fat blowhard golden mic boy for that. He has been brainwashing conservatives into thinking that anti American globalism is a good valid conservative position for 30 years. I wish he would go just away. I've have outgrown his childish shtick.

Nobody's talking about what the Democratic convention could be like. Their rules are so bad that it was rigged that hillary won before the primaries and caucuses even started.

Hillary's effectively insurmountable lead in the primaries is mostly the result of her having most of the superdelegates, which make up 35% of the Democratic delegate count. This means that any candidate not annointed by the party needs an almost impossible 35% lead to overcome the DNC's candidate of choice. So we have it bad with the RNC rigging our game in favor of Bushes and Romneys, but not nearly as bad as the Democrats.

Excellent observation.

Hard leftist who think Hillary is too right wing will vote for Trump because of his leftist policies.

“A complete rejection by voters of current political categories - Republican, Democrat, liberal, moderate, conservative. By 2018, the two major parties, if they still exist, will look very different. What that change will be is not clear yet.”

Socialist nanny state.

More of the same with drugs and circuses being the most important.

So, since Barry stomped her in Washington state, which has 101 delegates, that means that he only lost 23 delegates in Washington state.

Goota love the New Democrat Machine Math - well, not if you're Sanders...

This Democrat contest is like the Iran-Iraq war. You root for both of them to lose. My ideal scenario is for Bernie to come into the DNC convention with more "won" delegates and force Shrillary to use her super delegates to put her over the top - against the will of the rank and file. It will be beautiful to see the crestfallen faces of the Bernie supporters as they see the Wicked Witch ascend to the podium to accept her "nomination" and realize that they have been played as fools by the Democrat Party establishment.

Then to see Shrillary utterly crushed in the general. Because as others have pointed out, she is a weak candidate who has never been able to beat a strong opponent. She has always been able to ride on the coattails of her husband - who is now a washed up pitiful shell of the man he once was.

If she's losing by 50 percentage points in Washington State in her own party primary/caucus, how do you think she will fare in the general? Are all those young Starbucks drinking Bernie voters going to simply accept the fact that their primary votes were tossed out and disregarded by the party establishment and enthusiastically come out in November in support of this washed up hag? Or will many of them, end up pulling the lever for Donald Trump, because after all, the Republican Party hates him as much as the Democrat Party hates Bernie. Politics does make for strange bedfellows. Could happen.

The best thing that Trump will have going for him in the general is that he went up against the Republican establishment and beat them. In a Trump/Shrillary matchup, it will be Shrillary who will be seen as the "establishment" choice and Trump will benefit from that. Thus many Democrats will not feel disloyal at all by pulling the lever for Trump in November because they won't perceive him as being a "real" Republican.

Interesting times. Of course, Trump needs to get to the nomination himself first. But consider that when superdelegates are removed from the equation and only "won" delegates are counted, Trump's lead over Cruz is now greater than Shrillary's lead over Bernie. Even in a worse case scenario (for Trump), he will go into the convention with a strong lead in "won" delegates, even if he does fall short of the 1,237. But Bernie has a decent chance of going into the convention with more "won" delegates than Shrillary, forcing Shrillary to use the super delegate trump card. And that will...not...sit...well with the Bernie crowd. Not at all.

As Bruce Willis said in Die Hard, "Welcome to the Party, Children of the Bern!".

You ProgKids keep voting. You're finding out what old Uncle Joe meant by "counting the votes"... LOL!

Yep, those bright-eyed idealistic young Bernie voters are on their way to losing their innocence. Bernie might be racking up the wins but the establishment are counting the votes and even when Bernie wins, they will ensure that Bernie still loses. Because that is how the party bosses decided long ago that it shall go down.

I don't think we'll see the riots we saw in 1968. Most of the men have been feminized and aren't likely to want to get their Dockers dirty by marching in the streets and getting doused with fire hoses and tear gas. These are "pajama boys" who will simply conclude that "politics is stupid, anyway" and retreat to their parents basements and binge watch "House of Cards" on Netflix in seclusion. Like what they did after that "Occupy Wall Street" movement. Maybe they come out and vote for Trump in November, maybe they don't. But I don't see them rallying around Shrillary after she pulls those convention parlor tricks on their beloved Bernie.
