An unarmed man who was shot and killed by an Arizona police officer in January cried, complied with police orders and begged for his life before the fatal firing, according to a newly released police report.
Mesa Police Officer Philip Brailsford has been charged with second-degree murder for the death of Daniel Shaver, a 26-year-old Texas man. Authorities have declined to release Brailsford’s body cam footage from the deadly encounter.
But a report released on Tuesday includes extensive description of the footage, detailing Shaver’s desperate final moments before Brailsford fired five shots at him with an AR-15 rifle.

Something is really wrong here — if the suspect was unarmed and complied with police orders, why would the policeman shoot him? I tend to be on the side of the police in ambiguous situations, but this one sounds pretty bad for the policeman.

Only thing that stinks is the DA is offering a plea deal. The jack boot threatened to kill the guy, made him crawl on the ground, then shot him for trying to make sure his pants didn’t fall down.
Apparently he was drunk and was making erratic movements with his hands. It seems he was on the ground at the time.
Yah, he’s been charged w 2nd degree murder.

He had a body camera on for god sakes. The etching on his gun makes it look like he’s a cold blooded killer.
