He voted to give Obama fast track authority under the excuse that ‘all Presidents get it’!

If what I've read about TPP is correct it should and will be voted down by a combination of Conservative anti-globalization and pro-labor Liberal members.

Just like Obama Care and the new budget that puts us 2 trillion more in debt a lot of which is earmarked for the promotion of illegal immigration, eh???

When are you guys ever going to realize that the Congress you expect to protect us are working for the enemy??? That's what Trump is all about...That's why Jeff Sessions refused to endorse Cruz and endorsed Trump instead...

All of the political donors and lobbyists who have paid for our politicians support and endorse the destruction of our Country as we know it...The same bunch that is backing Cruz's candidacy...

Weigh this against the certainty of no trade deal and Cruz' decision is quite responsible and in keeping with the majority view about trade among conservatives for quite a while. This visceral, mindless opposition to trade is faithful to the ravings of Donald Trump but it is repugnant to classic conservatism.

We are far, far better off without this trade deal than we are with it...Visceral, mindless opposition, eh??? This ridiculously unfair trade deal will obliterate the sovereignty of the United States...And thanks to the GOPe/Cruz it will take only 51% of the votes to pass it...

Cruz is from the exact playbook as Obama. It is a play to fool people with puppet/actors like Cruz playing the role of outsider. The establishment is pulling the strings. TWICE in a row?

Well said...

Cruz will help destroy America with the very trade deals you mention, albeit with magnificent lawyer dancing which can only be done by someone with no regard for transparency or straightforwardness. In addition, Cruz will bring in more legal immigrants to further flood the labor market.

That is one of the tenets of the deal...To allow cheap international labor into our Country to replace the American service workers...Disney World on a national scale...

And amendment was offered that would protect American workers...Cruz voted against that...Imagine that...

By conflating TPA and TPP and by conflating then and now you are playing the same sleight-of-hand trick attempted by Stephan Miller.

I have had the intellectual honesty to state that Cruz' first vote on TPA was crucial and his second vote against TPA was ineffectual. But I do not concede that Cruz' change of position on that bill was cynical, to the contrary his confrontation on the floor of the Senate with Mitch McConnell demonstrates the contrary. Moreover, it is unfair to blame Ted Cruz for the shenanigans of Obama. The country was in a dilemma: authorize Obama to negotiate on procedural terms which would get trade partners to sit down at the table or forgo negotiations altogether and risk a severe economic downturn. Moreover, because of the timing of the authorizations, the fast-track authority had to be renewed for the benefit of successive presidents (hopefully a Republican with some common sense rather than bluster like Ted Cruz) or watch the entire future trading system of the world come apart.

Under these circumstances, Ted Cruz' initial decision to support TPA, leaving open whether to support TPP until he could know what was in it, was perfectly reasonable and consistent with conservative values. Now that he and we all know what is in TPP, we all oppose it.
