Posted on 04/13/2016 10:48:30 AM PDT by Cyberman
Gov. Pat McCrory of North Carolina, whose state has been the subject of withering criticism since he signed legislation limiting bathroom access for transgender people and eliminating anti-discrimination ordinances based on sexual orientation, announced Tuesday that he would strengthen workplace protections for state employees and urge the General Assembly to modify part of the law....
He also said he would urge lawmakers to reverse course and allow people to bring discrimination cases in state court....
Since the measure became law, North Carolina has faced a barrage of criticism from business interests and warnings of boycotts and canceled investments. PayPal, an online-payment company, said it would abandon plans for a global operations center in the state, and the National Basketball Association suggested that it could move its 2017 All-Star Game from Charlotte. There, tourism officials said that organizers of at least four major events had cited the law when they dropped plans to be in the city.
On Tuesday, Deutsche Bank announced that it would freeze plans to create 250 jobs near Raleigh.
Mr. McCrory is not the first Republican governor to back away from a measure condemned as curbing gay rights. Last year, for example, Mike Pence of Indiana and Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas found themselves under similar pressures....
I think its an attempt to divert attention from a full repeal effort, said State Representative Darren G. Jackson, a Democrat from Wake County.
He said it was a tacit admission that the new law has taken a big economic toll on North Carolina.

As expected, folding like a cheap suit. The law was signed on March 24 so the governor could not even last a month.
Define ‘bias’? Allowing pervs to enter the women’s room and assault its occupants? What ever ‘sex’ is on your birth certificate is the bathroom you use. Otherwise ‘HOLD IT!!!’
The West is filled with cowards.
Because of cowardice and a distorted definition of love - The light is under a bushel and the salt has been diluted to nothing.
The world is about to burn.
So why vote anymore when a president or governor can rule by decree...
What a wuss. He can pander all he wants, liberals still won’t forgive him... it’s not their nature.
what friggign bias for crying out loud.
Men use men bathroom, women use women bathrooms.
it really is that simple.
Yo have a penis you are male, even a mental midget cold understand that, unless there is mental illness in the head.

Chromosomes man, chromosomes...
This has happened enough times for Republicans to know exactly what to expect. Why even bother to pass the law if they can’t stand the heat? They’re either really stupid or intentionally trying to make conservatives look bad.
How does the law limit bathroom access for anyone??
It simply reinforces the status quo that biological men go in the men’s room.
Where is the bias or taking away of anyones rights? I can’t believe sometimes the issues for which the left has a meltdown over.
Typical Republican. Now we get to watch the collapse as he bends over for the LBGT minority.
Please don’t cave to the bullies!
So what? They probably are demanding tax concessions and other sweeteners. I had to laugh at the CBS reporter this morning saying something like when it rains it pours and the Bank not expanding was a major blow - ugh, not quite. 250 jobs in the state is like peeing in the ocean. CBS this morning was especially anti-conservative biased this morning. Almost every story was either anti-Trump, anti-conservative or pro-Hillary.
You give liberals what they want no matter the consequences to yourself, others and the country OR ELSE!
WHAT A WUSS
He should have responded with:
This morning I signed a Governors Warrant for the Immediate arrest and extradition of Bruce Springsteen for FRAUD. We allege he NEVER intended to put on a show in NC, and that he only intended to STEAL EVERYONES MONEY through false pretenses.
As I speak the Attorney General is preparing CIVIL ASSET FORFEITURE Proceedings against any and all assets we can locate belonging to the raspy voiced fraudster.
We will be asking for 25 to life upon his conviction.
It’s clear most here have not read and don’t understand the bill.
There was about three main parts to the bill. The Gov. is talking about amending the parts of the bill that do not apply to the bathroom situation.
Lefty lawyers are fixing to take the state to court to get the other parts overturned - and as a bonus the entire bill.
This is an attempt to head them off and keep the bathroom part intact.
There's something seriously wrong with a law that leads to such an irrational result.
Agreed - you would think they would know by now what to expect - a low end PR company could have prepped them better than this mess.
Christians are under attack and the media are making sure it hurts for them to fight back.
