Elections: If you listen to the leading candidates in both political parties these days, you’d think everything in this country is “rigged.” It’s a terrible message that simply excuses irresponsibility.

Just one sentence?

George Washington warned about political parties.

And foreign entanglements.

But later came lesser men who thought they were wiser and proved themselves fools and jackasses.

If our votes actually mattered, would they let us cast them?

No, they wouldn't.

(Been saying this for decades already ....)

Yep, IBD is a blog pimp and always has been.

They have also been an anti-trump shill throughout this campaign.

But that has nothing to do with years and years of minimal excerpts from their articles, AND zero responding to any poster who then comments or questions.

Look back through the years. If there is a response, I can’t find it.

So the system isn’t rigged?

That one sentence conveys everything. It is a terrible thing that the serfs expect to their vote to count. The candidates we vote for will be selected for us much like the Politburo of old.

Miss Pennsylvania Sheena Monnin made headlines in 2012 by claiming the five finalists in the Miss USA pageant had been pre-selected.

Rigged beauty pageants or wrestling tournaments don’t damage the lives of citizens. A rigged political system does.

Mark Twain said it best:

“If voting made any difference they wouldn’t let us do it.”

The curtain has been drawn this year exposing corruption in both parties.

“So the system isn’t rigged?”

Exactly, just what part of it isn’t rigged, and how come this author doesn’t already know that and become ‘alarmed’ by that tidbit,

yeah, smells of GOPe blog pimping,

Working class people.

Everything in this country is rigged, all the way down.

How do we know that?

Hillary Clinton is not behind bars and is instead running for President.

Why is the supposed opposition party, the GOP, allowing that to stand with no apparent pushback?

Now what middle class person could be so lucky?

Not luck, it is rigged.

Trump is right: These states' rules are a scam, and saying so is not whining.

Take Colorado, for example. Voters in Colorado didn't get to vote in a primary or a caucus because the state's Republican Party executive committee decided last summer not to hold any presidential preference vote. Instead, voters had to gather at far-flung, time-consuming conventions to choose individual delegates.

Why wasn't there a caucus with a presidential vote, as Colorado had held in previous years? Because this time the Republican National Committee had ordered states to bind their delegates to actually vote in line with voters' presidential preference. Colorado Republicans didn't want to do that, so they got rid of the presidential vote.

That is, the purpose of Colorado's rule change was explicitly antidemocratic. It took power away from regular voters and handed it to the sort of activists who would be likely to spend a lot of time and energy participating in party conventions.

These were the rules, but they weren't democratic rules.

When Republican operatives are willing to work hand-in-hand with media that DESPISES them to try to tear down Trump, I’d say Trump has a point.

When the Colorado Republican Party changes its rules on delegate selection to prevent Trump from receiving any delegates, I’d say Trump has a point.

Probably lots of other examples...but I’m too lazy to think of them.

I wonder why “the Politburo” allowed Trump to run? Must be a very deep conspiracy.

Did you ever stop to consider if “the system is rigged”, then Trump must be part of the conspiracy?

Blog pimp, part of the established order does not want the public to realize the system is rigged.
