Attendees at the annual New York State Republican gala were more interested in consuming their dinner Thursday night than listening to Ted Cruz address the audience.
The three remaining Republican presidential candidates gave remarks to hundreds of guests at the Manhattan event. GOP front-runner Donald Trump spoke first, followed by Ohio Gov. John Kasich before finally Cruz took the stage.
While some guests remained seated during the introduction of the New York businessman, who leads the race with a 30-point margin, Cruz received the worst reception.
Guests could even be heard on livestreamed footage poking around with knives and forks as they picked apart their dinners as the Texas senator spoke. Cruz focused on many of the policies immigration, national security, jobs that he has also addressed at campaign rallies.
Members of the audience also walked around the large room at the Grand Hyatt in midtown Manhattan as the tuxedo-adorned speaker shared his vision for America.
Cruz may have expected that kind of unwelcoming environment after he criticized New Yorkers for their values. Kasich, ranked second in the Empire State primary, was also ignored by some attendees.
Surprised the liberal Kasich didn’t get more respect there.
They probably are uninformed and don’t know who Buckeye Kasich even is.
Why of course. lol
Even a plate of rubber chicken and microwaved broccoli and carrots was more interesting than listening to Cruz’s speech last night.
Cruz is a stooge. His purpose is to block the Republican front runner so that Hillary can face a weak opponent like Jeb or Mitt.
I was there This is complete fiction
Trump was at the same event and he made a great speech

They were served dinner, are they supposed to watch it get cold while Cruz speaks? Doesn’t mean they weren’t listening.
There's a reason why certain people draw crowds while others don't.
not interested in NY - it will not be in the (R) column in November - nope - no how.
I don’t think the author knows what the meaning of the word shunned is.
Happy Dems applaud Clinton's Crime Bill which sicced the law on Blacks. Hillary ran to a mic praising the bill, calling Blacks "Super-predators."
"You're going to be president one day Hillary,
and my Crime Bill will put you over the top."
When I was young I use to worker as a server at similar dinner functions. No one spoke until dinner was over, and the servers were not allowed to approach the tables.
There was video of the event its not fiction.
When Hannity was playing Cruz’ speech, the background noise — silverware, chit-chatting, etc., was so loud and distracting! I despise Cruz, but there’s no excuse for poor etiquette. These people should be ashamed.
Something went wrong with the microphones after Cruz started speaking.
It sounded like the podium mike went out, and a room mike was used—and the room mike picked up all the background noise.
The background noise was equal to the speaker’s volume, making it hard to even listen to Cruz’s speech.

That maybe the case but it damn sure has a lot of delegates
that will help name the GOP nominee in Cleveland.
Saw another post saying Cruz campaign can’t name a single district he will win. Cruz has a great likelihood of finishing 3rd in New York. But that’s a badge of honor to his supporters because Cruz rolled in conservative Alabama Georgia Florida and .... oh wait forget I said that. Well he was elected bishop of Iowa and bishop of Utah - that’s something right?
you’re right - i had to turn it off it was so hard to hear. plus the people were so rude.
