Norwegian mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik has won part of a human rights case against the Norwegian state.
The court upheld his claim that some of his treatment amounted to "inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment".
After the judgement, Breivik's lawyer, Oystein Storrvik, called for his solitary confinement to be repealed.
Breivik, a right-wing extremist, killed dozens of young centre-left political activists in an attack on the island of Utoya in July 2011.
In her ruling, judge Helen Andenaes Sekulic said the right not to be subjected to inhuman treatment represented "a fundamental value in a democratic society" and also applied to "terrorists and killers".
Breivik had challenged the government over his solitary confinement, which saw him kept alone in his cell for 22 to 23 hours a day, denied contact with other inmates and only communicating with prison staff through a thick glass barrier.

“Breivik, a right-wing extremist,”
“Breivik has later identified himself as a fascist and a national socialist,”
What court is this?
Fact that this guy is alive and not executed is a violation of more human rights.
On the day of the attacks, Breivik electronically distributed a compendium of texts entitled 2083: A European Declaration of Independence, describing his militant ideology. In them, he lays out a worldview encompassing opposition to Islam and feminism. The texts call Islam and “Cultural Marxism” the enemy, and advocates the deportation of all Muslims from Europe based on the model of the Bene decrees. Breivik wrote that his main motive for the atrocities was to market his manifesto.
same thing to them. pieces of @#$.
This is another profound example of why the Medellin Supreme Court case win was so important.
International law can negative national law without such conservative advocacy.
In Europe “Right Wing” has a very different meaning than it does in the US.
The US Right Wing is Conservative. The Euro Right Wing is the Fascist/Nationalist flavor of Statist/Socialist.
Judge Helen Andenaes Sekulic said the right not to be subjected to inhuman treatment represented “a fundamental value in a democratic society” and also applied to “terrorists and killers”.
Sorry; no. In Europe, “right wing” means what it has since the Tennis Court Oath — nationalist, Christian, monarchist. Fascism is a political pathology that borrows nationalism (perverted into racism) from the right, and godless state authoritarianism from the left.
Fascism is Communism with snappier uniforms.
Regardless of what one thinks of his crimes, it’s OBVIOUS that the government there is SCARED TO DEATH of what he might say and, no doubt, would love to see him dead - so they do the next best thing, which is to isolate him so badly that even judges in Texas would wince.
If you read over his writings, his strategy, and discussions...he’s not stupid. He is extremely knowledgeable on politics....how control extends out over different classes of people....and believes in a Sweden with Knights of Templar slant on things. With all the mass killing that he’s done...he’s absolutely proud of the outcome, and I think the government is worried that he might say enough to pass on his wisdom to dozens of others.
