Very well put. Most of the big races are in offyear, interesting dynamic not replicated too many other places.
Bill Still2 hours ago +Carl Hopkinson - Boy, you can say that again! I've made a half dozen mistakes this calendar year so far! Apparently, the latest was last night, falling for the fake newspaper AP story. Boy, this is hard! I've never seen so much deceit in the media. It's especially hard for a little guy like me.
“Now if he can do all that we may have a chance at completely restoring our constitutional republic. But it’s going to take most of what he’s talking about to have a remote shot at doing it.”
I think your analysis is right on the money.
I think of Trump as the exterminator that rids my house of rats & termites, and the roofer that fixes my leaky roof, and the police officer that protect my family from thieves, murderers and rapists, etc., etc..
Maybe in 4 or 8 years after my home is rebuilt, and my family is safe, we can talk about the proper way to run a household, the feng shui of furniture arrangement, good values for a healthy and moral life, we can talk about who is the more constitutionally conservative, and it may well not be Trump.
There are a few things Cruz says that are far more in line with my conservative beliefs than what Trump says, such as - bring back manufacturing jobs not by levying import tariffs, but by reducing corporate taxes and regulations. Tariffs raise costs to consumers and cause trade wars because they are met with retaliatory tariffs from our trading partners.
I just don’t think Cruz grasps the fact that we are already in a trade war and we are losing because we have unilaterally disarmed by taking ‘the high road’. True, in an ideal world tariffs are ‘bad’, just as weapons of mass destruction are ‘bad’. But we can’t unilaterally disarm in either case. It’s peace through strength in either case.
Same with the borders.
Same with political correctness.
There will be a time for high moral principles, politeness and statesmanship, but right now we need a fighter, someone tough, someone to rid this place of vermin and parasites.
Trump gets it, Cruz does not.
I was for Cruz until the day Donald came down the escalator. I immediately saw a man of action who succeeds and is able to get past the press. I liked Cruz’s stands but he never accomplished anything. I wanted someone that I believed could bring back this country. Trump is that man. He has a track record of success and he speaks the truth. We need fair trade, not that stuff spouted by free-traitors like Cruz. We need a fighter, not a designated loser. Trump is the only one I trust to do what he says he is going to do. That was my initial impression. As a lawyer, I learned to trust my guts and hate other lawyers. Something always seemed off about Cruz but I still liked him when I became a Trumper. This election opened my eyes and I am so glad that Cruz is immolating. I can’t believe I ever thought he was a good man.
