I said something’s similar while back if you look at Trump’s policies he’s mimicking the founding fathers foreign and trade policies. he’s seeking to rehabilitate the nation by instituting the policies we did when we were a weak Nation

The title is longer than 8 words. How about just telling us?

’ There are the eight words — Hamiltonian emphasis on having financial independence through manufacturing — that mean so much to our economy, offering us a way out of the zero-sum financialism of recent decades and also the solid prospect that we will continue to preserve our political sovereignty in the next century.’

I doubt Alexander Hamilton would support Trump’s recent comment about renegotiating U.S. debt when convenient.

The benefits of protectionism:

-decreasing or no trade deficits
-balanced Federal budgets
-higher levels of baseline employment
-less social stress
-less political will for socialism
-increased national security
-raising interest rate will not crater the economy

Being the only candidate to talk about Carrier moving its factory to Mexico - and speak to the affected workers - was a sign of that.

The problem with our current trade treaties is we have open borders for illegal immigrants and legal ones as well as legal products and mostly illegally imported fakes - flooding our market.
And yet Japan limits imports of nearly anything from US, ditto China, India, etc.

So free trade is everyone sends everything and anyone they can to our nation, but there is no free exchange the other way.
