Obama rushes out rules to guarantee legacy
Politico ^ | May 18, 2016 | TIMOTHY NOAH

The Obama administration is shoveling out regulations nearly one-third faster in its final year than during the previous three — all to beat a May 23 deadline to prevent a President Donald Trump from overturning them.

A total of 195 regulations have been pushed through since Jan. 1 at an estimated cost of $69.5 billion to the nation’s businesses, according to the conservative American Action Forum. One of the most significant — a sweeping rule that will extend overtime pay to more than 4 million people without any input from Congress — was released Tuesday night.

“This regulatory onslaught has only gotten worse in the administration’s final months,” complained Rep. John Kline (R.-Minn.), who chairs the House committee on Education and the Workforce.

The whoosh of final rules on everything from e-cigarette use to greenhouse gas emissions exceeds the pace during the same period in the Clinton administration. The goal is to deny Trump the opportunity to kill those regulations under an expedited process should he be elected president and Congress remain in Republican control.

Obama has used his regulatory authority in the face of a hostile Congress to edge the country closer toward the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, for instance, by readying the first methane regulation of the oil and gas industry. He’s also pushing the country leftward on a long-sought labor wish list by enacting a rule protecting workers from silica dust as well as by broadening access to overtime pay — measures that Democrats have been unable to push through a Republican-controlled Congress. The rules may seem arcane in many cases, but their impact is often large, prompting fierce (and in most instances unsuccessful) resistance from lawmakers.

Obama does not enforce immigration laws he dislikes. Two can play that game.

Trump can overturn any regulation Obama puts out. Who's going to stop him from doing so?

For all practical purposes Obama’s legacy is that the IRS and
any other federal agency can be used by the president to
silence his/her/it’s political opponents without any recourse.

Smells like BS to me. Regulations and executive orders can be solidified by putting identical language in a bill and getting it through Congress (one of Bammy's EOs regarding government fleet use of alternative fuels subsequently became law under the US Code). If that isn't done, then the rules and regs are not protected against a subsequent chief executive who wants them changed or gone.

Obama will definitely try to pack the State Department and DOJ with his minions (mostly blacks with GED-level educations) who will resist further change and try to "wait out" a hostile president.

Most of Trump’s first six months in office will be tied-up firing people like that.

So; he’s rushing through a bunch of new rules and regulations, big deal.
When TRUMP becomes President he can write a NEW RULE THAT SAYS ANY RULE, REGULATION, MANDATE, OR POLICY THAT WAS ENACTED AFTER JANUARY 20th 2008 IS RESCINDED AND SHALL BE CONSIDERED VOID OF ANY LEGAL STANDING IN ANY COURT OF THE UNITED STATES.

Yep. Odungo packer is definitely, without a doubt, no question, for sure, uh huh, hear ye hear ye, I’m tellin’ ya... the worst President in US history.

His only saving grace, and it isn’t much, is there have been worse leaders in the world such as Mao, Hitler, et al.

My one single hope when Trump gets in office is Trump does everything he can simultaneously to undo everything the dung packer did for the last 8 years. Then commences to doing exactly what he said he would by building a wall and making it extremely difficult for any illegal living in the USA to stay here while at the same time get rid of all those constricting laws on small businesses so the American economic engine can run strong once again.

My secondary hope is to see the anchor baby loophole closed while he is office and done in such a way some future asshat liberal can’t just open it again.
