One technique the two Clintons used in 1992 was stone silence, if they didn’t like a question. The TV person would panic after less than ten seconds, and ask another question. Broadcasters have an absolute terror of “dead air.” That’s why they all chatter maniacally all the time, even when they have nothing to say.
It would have been so sweet to see a broadcaster with the self-discipline to just ask the question, wait fifteen seconds, and ask the SAME question again, and then just wait, and wait, and wait until Bill and Hillary got up and left.
I think Algore has used the same technique on TV.
