What Would It Take for Donald Trump to Deport 11 Million and Build a Wall?
The New York Times ^ | MAY 19, 2016 | JULIA PRESTON, ALAN RAPPEPORT and MATT RICHTEL

Posted on 05/20/2016 8:39:08 AM PDT by conservative98

He has said that the wall would be built from precast concrete and steel and that it could be 50 feet tall, if not higher. After calling for it to extend across the entire 2,000-mile southern border, he more recently said half that length could be sufficient because of natural barriers. He has pegged the cost at $4 billion to $12 billion, most recently settling on around $10b.

Some see that as low. “There’s a lot of logistics involved in this, and I don’t know how thoroughly they’ve thought it out,” said Todd Sternfeld, chief executive of Superior Concrete, a Texas-based builder of walls. “The resources alone would be astronomical.”

Mr. Sternfeld, who has led major wall projects across the country and approached the Trump family last summer, suggested that Mr. Trump was overly optimistic about the cost and was underestimating the complexity of the undertaking.

Running the numbers, Mr. Sternfeld said a 40-foot-tall concrete wall using a “post and panel” system that went 10 feet below the ground — to minimize tunneling — would cost at least $26 billion. The logistics would be nightmarish, including multiple concrete casting sites and temporary housing for a crew of 1,000 workers if the job were to be completed within Mr. Trump’s first four-year term.

Maintenance would be an additional recurring expense, said Walter W. Boles, an engineering professor at Middle Tennessee State University who specializes in concrete construction. Deep trench work would also be necessary for keeping a wall of that height from toppling, he said, and seismic sensors to detect digging would be wise for preserving its integrity from below.

“That’s one heck of a construction project,” said Mr. Boles, who assessed Patrick J. Buchanan’s 1996 proposal for a border barrier. “It’s certainly a lot more ambitious than I was imagining.”

He’s not going to building the wall...Trump, you mean? Please clarify, because I believe that violates JR (FR owner) clearly stated rules about helping Hillary and harming Trump. Are you calling Trump a liar?

I don’t think a lot of people in the media understand that we already have the border partially fenced and walled - by my research 580 miles, or 25%.

So first, this guy needs to drop his estimates by 25%.

Beyond that...all the people want, and all that is needed for Trump to consider it a success, is a substantial beginning to wall construction. This guy is moving the goal post - who says the wall has to be 100 complete in 4 years? Trump is in the development and construction business. He knows that the most important thing is breaking ground.

Imagine a 2020 re-election campaign, where Trump has a website where you can watch a live camera shot of wall being built, and a ticker showing how many feet have been added each day. We get paralyzed looking for perfection...but merely getting started is a victory.

We don’t even operate the Fed gov on a BUDGET. Paul Ryan just GIVES x-trillions to Obama based on what Obama wants (called the Omnibus Spending Bill-—we haven’t had budgets in a while thanks to Republicans). I am sure that in a real BUDGET we could scrape together a fraction of what Obama GAVE Iran, for example.

1. Tell all illegal aliens that they must leave in 180 days.

2. When they leave they sign a documents and provide their name. This allows them to keep any assets they have and possible re-entry.

3. After 180 days any illegals will be deported with only the clothes on their backs, forfeiting any assets to the state and with no chance of possible re-entry.

4. All employees must undergo e-verify and a one was wall built.

Snowflakes who have never done anything or created anything cannot conceive of even the smallest accomplishments. They’ve never studied or done anything REAL dealing with REAL materials and REAL work.

The wall is not going to be that big of a deal to complete. But there should also be a lethal high voltage electric fence, a minefield in the no man’s land in front of the wall and probably motion activated firearms on top of the wall to reign hot lead down on whoever makes it through the minefield.

The ten to forty million illegal invaders will go home when they stop getting welfare and employers are fined and prosecuted for hiring the ones that actually do work. We also must end birthright citizenship. If your parents are not citizens then being born here should make no difference. And if you were born here to two non-citizen parents and now you are going to have a hard time assimilating back into your home country... blame your law breaking parents.

The Panama Canal

The Hoover Dam

The Manhattan Project

The Mackinaw Bridge

The Apollo Project (preceded by Mercury and Gemini)

Yeah, the wall can't be built. Way too hard. And besides, WTF does Trump know about building anything?

Repubs joined Dems yesterday to get 60 votes in the senate to put Section 8 housing in your neighborhood and Section 8 residents in the houses next door to yours. I think and hope Trump will stop that bs.

If the Chinese built a wall 3500 years ago, we can today.

Deportation is easy. Take away ALL incentives from EBT cards through birth right citizenship, eVerify all workers and fine employer’s who cheat, enforce VISA overstayers and all other current immigration law.

Then round up the renaming 20-30,000 vermin.

Defund any governmental or public agency that support illegals.

Mandatory prison sentences for hiring illegals.

Open southern border for exit only.

Most be be gone by end of year.

Try e-verify for all workers. Not just H1b workers with a green card. All workers foreign and domestic. Same with all receiving any government help. Illegal? No work or benefits for you. Tent city time fines and deportation. Heavy fines for improper hires by union, business, government employees. Receipt of Illegal government benefits same as above.

Well, you nuanced dipshits at the Slimes, enforcement of E-Verify and the end of welfare and support to all illegals would result in massive self-deportation.

The truth is: we don't need a wall, and we don't need to deport anyone. All we have to do is end the entitlement gravy train for non-citizens.

If you aren't a citizen, you are a guest in this country. So, there is no free health care, no welfare benefits, no Social Security, etc. etc. etc. No earned income tax credit, either.

If you have a green card, you will get CREDIT for Social Security taxes, but you don't collect any benefits unless you are a citizen.

The Treasury department can also put an end to remittances to outside countries, unless you have a green card (and a bank account that can be used for wire transfers).

We would still have to deal with birth tourism, but unless someone is successful in challenging the current interpretation of the 14th Amendment, there's not much you can do about that -- except to say: the child can remain in the US, but you can't. Either you appoint a guardian in the US, give the child up for adoption, or take him home until he is 18.

Combine that with strict penalties on people that hire illegal immigrants (and stop harassing employers that make the extra effort to avoid doing so), and there would be no more problem.

If the US started enforcing these laws and publicized it widely, there would be very few people entering the country illegally. Those already here would be going home as soon as they could get a bus ticket.

The second thing should be done: an end to temporary and permanent visas for anyone and everyone. I'm not suggesting that immigrants should be turned away, but they must demonstrate:

  1. Competency in a skill or education in a profession that can't be met by US citizens. We don't need any more laborers or retail clerks.
  2. Free of infectious diseases and up-to-date vaccinations for contagious diseases we have already eradicated. That means they have to pay for the lab work.
  3. Proof of financial assets sufficient to provide for yourself and your immediate family (spouse and first generation descendants only) for 3-6 months.
  4. No criminal record of anything that would be considered a felony in the US.

These are not unreasonable requirements. I had to provide all of these things for a temporary work visa in other countries, when I was working as a consultant.

Imagine cutting all useless departments, eliminating fraud and waste, stopping all foreign aid, and eliminating the UN. Probably save a million bucks a year per capita

Easy. Just 2 simple steps:

- Eliminate the (illegal/unconstitutional) Welfare State
- Pass reciprocity laws

For the icing on the cake:

- Prosecute for aiding/abetting (sanctuary cities); I mean PERSONALLY throw each major, city council, etc. in the slammer
- Begin a bounty program for each successful deportation. Use the sale of their personal items as the bounty and/or for proceedings.
- FAITHFULLY read/apply the 14th Amendment (IE: NO ‘anchor babies’)
- Ship back any/all jailed to the country of origin (reduce the ‘foreign aide’ accordingly....if not abolished [as per welfare])

No need for a wall, no e-verify (not the job of Biz anyway), Freedom/Liberty restored. Win-win-win-w....
