LONG BEFORE he died, Muhammad Ali had been extolled by many as the greatest boxer in history. Some called him the greatest athlete of the 20th century. Still others, like George W. Bush, when he bestowed the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2005, endorsed Ali's description of himself as "the greatest of all time." Ali's death Friday night sent the paeans and panegyrics to even more exalted heights. Fox Sports went so far as to proclaim Muhammad Ali nothing less than "the greatest athlete the world will ever see."
As a champion in the ring, Ali may have been without equal. But when his idolizers go beyond boxing and sports, exalting him as a champion of civil rights and tolerance, they spout pernicious nonsense. There have been spouters aplenty in the last few days everyone from the NBA commissioner ("Ali transcended sports with his outsized personality and dedication to civil rights") to the British prime minister ("a champion of civil rights") to the junior senator from Massachusetts ("Muhammad Ali fought for civil rights . . . for human rights . . . for peace").
Time for a reality check.
Excerpted Boston Globe editorial continued:
Ali more than anyone before him made Islam, the dread religion of forced submission and slavery, "cool". President Obama, in every step of his presidency, has elevated Islam by saying things like, "America is not a Christian country, it is an Islamic Country", and "The future does not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam". Neither men, in their defense of Islam and continuous attacks on America's racist Christian past, have mentioned the dark secret of Islam; Slavery is still alive and well today in the Islamic world. It is estimated that there were 27 Million Islamic slaves (mostly blacks) when Mohammed Ali converted to Islam in 1964. Saudi Arabia practiced slavery openly until 1980!! Islam enslaved the blacks for the last 1000 years, selling them to the west. They continue this practice covertly today. Evil men like Ali and Obama could only be celebrated in a generation when the vilest of men walk on every side...
Psalms 12:1 Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men. 2 They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak. 3 The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things: 4 Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us? 5 For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him. 6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. 7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. 8 The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.
He IS NOT resting in peace.
To its great shame Fox News spent the afternoon carrying the Ali memorial service live. Even if he was an outstanding athlete, he did not deserve that honor. Someone like Chris Kyle did and he didn’t get it.
Agreed. Ali was a draft dodging, racist muslim, best friend of Louie the Farrakhan pig, and a failed fighter in his last 5 years. He was awarded wins he clearly lost and was allowed to escape penalties for constant clinching and holding the back of the head of his opponents which is clearly a rules violation.
Not a fan of Ali’s Politics (for the most part) and loathe his religion.
He was Jim Crow’d into the Muslim thing and the anti Vietnam thing. he was given way bad information from Malcolm X and his ilk. But in 84 he backed Reagan for president so he was complex.
But I am a firm believer in “judge not les ye be judged”. No one on this planet knows what his neighbors final destination is.
Cassius Clay aka Muhammed Ali was a great boxer. Period.
"I'm sure glad my grand daddy got on that boat!"
Yeah, he (Ali) was great but I liked Jimi Hendrix a lot better.
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 2 Muhammad Ali, the former heavyweight boxing champion, who endorsed the Rev. Jesse Jackson's unsuccessful run for the White House, has announced he is switching to President Reagan.
Mr. Ali announced his support Monday night at a gathering for black Republicans at the home of Jerry Zarg, who is challenging Representative Henry A. Waxman, a Democrat.
Asked to elaborate on his endorsement of Mr. Reagan, Mr. Ali told reporters, ‘’He's keeping God in schools and that's enough.’’
Wow, Floyd Patterson! I remember when Ali felled him.
In all seriousness, Ali was a retard.
A loudmouthed goon with jello for morals and tapioca for a brain.
So you agree with his racism? Allah bless you...
So you agree with his racism? Allah bless you!
He let rage make decisions for him more than he let compassion guide him. If not for his falling in with the NOI be could have been great. He ran with them and stayed with them. Damn shame.
“See. Reagan was punching a black man!”
Even Malcolm X finally saw what a bunch of phonies the NOI were, and they killed him for it.
Thanks guys ‘
I seem to remember some issues Cassius Clay had with Vietnam.
I cannot find the paticulars,
Yeah, sure. Whatever you say, sweetie.
