NPR + NYT: A Recipe for Cluelessness

What happens when a National Public Radio host interviews a New York Times reporter on the subject of Venezuela’s economic collapse? You get a perfect storm of cluelessness.

The host is Terry Gross, the guest is New York Times reporter Nicholas Casey, and the program is Fresh Air. Gross asks Casey about the utter disaster that Venezuela has become. Casey understands the depth to which Venezuela has fallen–he lives in Caracas!–but he can’t bring himself to offer an honest diagnosis.

This is an excellent article about how dishonest the MSM is.

If you tried to make up satire mocking the MSM you could not do any better.

This is an excellent insight into the attitude of America's self described elites. They are pathetic.

Didn’t Mr. Weatherbee give a similar non-answer when asked about the Venezuelan situation as well? This should not surprise anyone here after all, since the NYT had that paragon of journalism’s finest on their staff, Walter Duranty.

It takes a special king of clueless to look at second longest-running experiment in social science history -socialism -, observe its universal failure, and not see it as the cause of those failures.

The people that I know, those who are avid consumers of the NYT and PBS, are the most clueless, but never-in-doubt, types.

They are happy to view the world through their tinted glasses, and God forbid if you try to help them along in trying to make sense of the world.

“Casey understands the depth to which Venezuela has fallen–he lives in Caracas!–but he can’t bring himself to offer an honest diagnosis.”

Casey wants to keep his cushy job as a reporter for the New York Times. Therefore he will always be a mouthpiece for the progressive narrative instead of reporting the truth.

I wonder if there is a journalism school in America teaching “who, what, when, where, why”. There certainly isn’t a media outlet of any type separating reporting from editorial (i.e. propaganda).

I wonder if there is a journalism school in America teaching “who, what, when, where, why”.

That was formulated back when reporting was a trade, before it morphed into the profession of journalism and became an arm of the Gramscian project.

Libtards have an anti-conceptual mentality and a disintegrated mode of thought which makes it impossible for them to interpret their observations in a way that actually corresponds to reality

but he can’t bring himself to offer an honest diagnosis.

I have made this complaint before. The biggest problem with the Left is intellectual dishonesty. You cannot have a decent debate/discussion/argument with them because the rub their backside on the subject before any discourse begins.

Now Bernie Sanders refusing to comment on Venezuela was when I realized that Bernie does not believe a dang thing he says. He is a fraud, a con man.

The reporter can’t say why Venezuelq is a mess. One he is a true believer in socialism and remains willfully blind. Two. If he said anything critical of the revolution Maduro would have him disappeared.
