Sacramento Baptist preacher incites outrage with praise of Orlando massacre

Sacramento’s religious community Tuesday roundly denounced a Natomas pastor who praised the Orlando massacre for eliminating “sodomites.”

The 45-minute sermon Sunday by Roger Jimenez, pastor of a tiny church in a South Natomas office park, had gone viral by Tuesday morning, drawing condemnation around the nation. YouTube took down a video of the sermon, saying it violated the site’s ban on hate speech. But another copy was quickly posted.

Jimenez of Verity Baptist Church spoke to reporters briefly Tuesday morning outside his house on River Run Circle in South Natomas. He said he would not back down from his Sunday sermon lauding the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.

He’s said he doesn’t intend to incite people to violence against LGBT people, but said he believes the God has “put a death penalty” on them.

“All I’m saying is that when people die who deserve to die, it’s not a tragedy,” he said.

In his Sunday serman, Jimenez said the killing of 49 people in a gay nightclub in Orlando, Fla. “helps society.”

“I think Orlando, Florida is a little safer tonight. The tragedy is that more of them didn’t die. I’m kind of upset he didn’t finish the job.”

There's no way this preacher is affiliated with a mainstream Baptist Church.

Luke 13:

1At that time, some of those present told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. 2To this He replied, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered this fate? 3No, I tell you. But unless you repent, you too will all perish. 4Or those eighteen who were killed when the tower of Siloam collapsed on them: Do you think that they were more sinful than all the others living in Jerusalem? 5No, I tell you. But unless you repent, you too will all perish.”

Think he’ll be treated the same and covered by media the same as a member of the death cult?

Or you think he’ll be treated and covered differently?

Lol this guy will be painted as a regular baptist .. And the Muslim killer will be treated as a person who needs to be understood. The baptist (he’s a wacko, not a baptist) is full of hate, the Muslim is misunderstood. The “baptist” is just like the rest, the Muslim was forced to to the killings.

The baptist will be fully culpable, the Muslim will have no blame.

No. There isn’t.

Anyone can start a “church” and call it Baptist.

Surprised that the Westboro “church” hasn’t put in their 2¢.

Anyone with this line of thinking isn’t a Christian. No matter your beliefs on the gay issue, celebrating the death of 49 fellow Americans in just plain sick. It pisses me off to no end to know there are many out there who agree with this asshat.

What is it with Baptists? First that KJV-Onlyist from Faithful Word Baptist in Tempe, and now this guy. (Not to mention the Westboro folks.) I mean, I get that “mainstream” Baptists don’t say things like this, but the Baptist movement’s fringe is SOME fringe.

Leftwing media magnet: a “Christian minister” with a Fred Phelps complex looking for 15 minutes of fame.

God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked. He also warns us to take no joy when an enemy falls into misfortune lest the Lord see you taking such joy and have pity on that enemy while he allows you to fall into misfortune!

Of course, the news will be what this hater said, NOT the fact that he was roundly condemned by the Christian community.

The fringe wackos are likely imposters trying to make Muslims and baptists the same. Westboro is a cult. Freaks.

Good point...as Christians everywhere loudly denounce this creep, Muslims are nearly silent in opposition to the kills they actually do.
