Speaker of the House Paul Ryan has bowed to House Democrats and will hold a vote on a gun control bill that will prohibit persons on terror watch lists from buying firearms (via Reuters):

U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan told Republican lawmakers on a conference call that the House will vote next week on a measure intended to keep guns out of the hands of people on terrorism watch lists, according to a knowledgeable source.

House Republican leadership refused to provide details of the legislation, which Ryan said would be part of a larger terrorism package.

I’m OK with this. Let’s see who opposes the 4th amendment.

O.K., what does Mr. Ryan get in exchange for this deal?

I actually would be O.K. with this if he got something substantive in return. But of course, any such deal would be kept secret.

The trouble is that I don't trust him or the other Vichy Republicans right now.

To Democrats, compromising means getting everything you want and giving nothing in return. let’s see if that’s what they offer and let’s see if Ryan accepts it.

LOL. I’m sure he got nothing for us. Maybe some goodies for his big donors. Like always.

Ryan needs to use all of Pelosi’s underhanded speaker tactics as a cudgel against the democrats. Give them a taste of their own medicine.

He should draft legislation without any democrat input and then “deem” it passed and ask McConnell to do the same in the senate. Sure, Zerobama will veto it, but it’ll at least show a bit of spine on the part of the congressional Republicans.

Compromise is the first step toward surrender.

What to do? All this gun goodie bag business for the Marx crowd, and what a busy Beaver Cleaver we have, in young Ryan.

Ryan has such a heavy schedule, what with his townhall coming up the very week before Trump’s Convention, where Ryan lays out his agenda, publically to compete against that of the Republican nominee for POTUS, Trump.

Putz Ryan.

I see no purpose in holding votes on unconstituional measures

it only distracts from the work Congress should be doing

(impeachment, for starters)

The ONLY folks democrats want to disarm are traditional conservative Americans.

Paul Ryans so busy being thrilled with himself that he can’t see the obvious.

I’m not. I don’t trust any of those cowards, starting with Paul Ryan. Scared little white bois who kiss Obama’s stinking feet. Disgusting. Ryan is another Hastert - a tower of jelly.

Let’s combine the no-fly vote with the Zika aid money and defunding Planned Parenthood and see how much it gets demagogued because Republicans wouldn’t “compromise”

Ryan doesn't need anything from house dems and they don't have anything to give him. The republicans control the house and can pass anything they want without any dems since there is no filibuster.

I really hope ryan gets primaried out. Getting a real conservative in that position seems to be the biggest hurdle when it should be the easiest part.

Gun control is now one of those “Conservative principles” that Lyin’ Ryan stands on, that Trump doesn’t.

Good for you, Mr. Trump.

Seems the possibilities are in his favor to become President of the Senate! Wouldn’t that just toast McConnell’s cookies?
