Social media erupted in fury after the Canadian quartet The Tenors changed the words to O Canada to make a political statement during the opening of Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game in San Diego Tuesday night.
Holding up a sign saying “All Lives Matter,” the group sang: “We are brothers, we are sisters, All lives matter to the brave,” when they should have been singing: “With glowing hearts we see thee rise, The True North strong and free.”
The words “United We Stand” were written on the back of the sign.
Although there was some applause during their performance, reaction afterwards was overwhelmingly negative, judging by comments posted on Twitter.
“How on earth did they think this was a good idea,” asked one tweet.

Just leave politics out of sports, period. People are drawn to sports mostly as a diversion from other more pressing issues. Even though I agree with the “All Lives Matter” sentiment, get off your soapbox.
It’ll be a cold day in Miami before that happens. Trudeau is still better than Obama, and Harper was better than anyone since Reagan.

IIRC, Toronto has had a team the first part of each of the last several years.

If they had simply called the movement “black lives matter too” the intent would have been clearer...
