We’ve all been pained with this sort of accusation, questioning, ever since President FDR’s time.
In many companies a Black with a just passing score, applying for a job, will be hired ahead of a White with a higher score. So, no, NO ONE is keeping Blacks down except perhaps Blacks themselves.
This article is infused with the soft bigotry of low expectations. Yes, the welfare system is a trap, but no one forced so many of the Black America to reach for the cheese in that mousetrap. They took the easy path instead of the right one.
Of course the irony is that those people had no problem making the productive members of society their wage-slaves. I want reparations for the theft of my wealth to pay for the indolent and immoral behavior of others.
Black Americans have been, and continue to be, their own worst enemies. They are in desperate need of an “intervention”. Until they take honest stock of themselves and take responsibility for their own decisions instead of blaming others, we will remain this ugly, deadly, dysfunctional cycle.
And THAT, is the elephant in the living room.
This is a fine article, full of obvious truths and platitudes. I’m sure the author felt better about himself after writing it.
But was there even one practical first step to ending the dependency society that he describes? In my view, he needs to describe what he recommends doing and who he thinks should do it.

Easy to answer: A white political class that DERIVES ITS POWER by holding blacks down.
Just take their hard-core opposition to school vouchers, if there’s any doubt about wanting to keep blacks down, uneducated, in failing schools.
It's ridiculous, frankly. I don't go out of my way to have hateful thoughts of others, nor do I think of ways to keep others down. It's insulting to lump all whites together, including me, in that representation, and completely goes against the fundamentals of individualism.
White people voted for Obama twice so much for logical thinking but it works for pimping racism.
The hypocritical and vile liberals of all stripes want very much to keep them down - and angry.
Yields tremendous profits and they never get blamed.

This is the key flaw in this article. The intent behind LBJs 'War on Poverty' was not good but an insidious sardonic evil. The progressives selling of dependency on the government is very much like the fairly tale of the Pied Piper and has lead to a mountain of debt and a new kind of enslavement of not only the welfare recipient but of the taxpayers as well.
Indeed. I spend my day thinking about how to get more productivity out of my people and how to enable them to advance their careers. The color of their skin when I coach and mentor them is not really relevant.
