During an interview with Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo, Giuliani called the use of the word intervention "completely out of line."
"That word, I think, honestly I love him dearly, but I think that word was used by Newt in a memo that got around," Giuliani said, singling out Gingrich as the reason for widespread use of the word in a number of media reports.
"What a ridiculous word," he added. "An intervention is for a drug addict, and it's for someone who's an alcoholic, and I've had to do them with people at times. There's nothing wrong with them, if that's the case. Donald Trump doesn't drink or smoke, by the way. We don't have that problem."
On Wednesday, a report claimed Giuliani, Gingrich, Republican National Committee chair Reince Priebus, and possibly others would be holding what was characterized as an "intervention" with Trump amid a tumultuous week of self-inflicted controversies.

Everyone I talked to (anti and pro Trump) supports Trump over the Khan guy. Yet there was a coordinated effort to get people close to Trump to put pressure on Trump to stay away from the Khan issue and also to stay positive when dealing with a Hillary Clinton that has so many negatives about her that are unknown to 85% of the population and would be damaging to her... wtf LOL! Hillary wants Trump to not go negative on her. She will get people to push Trump to stay positive.
Newt is upset he wasn’t picked for VP.
He’s playing both sides - look up the off record comments where he expressed his true feelings about Trump.

There’s nothing wrong with the word. It’s what happens that counts.
Gingrich has a real bad foot-in-mouth problem. Besides that, a lot of the stuff he says is self-aggrandizing. He would’ve been all wrong for VP.
Theres’s plenty wrong with the word. It carries the connotations Rudy listed. Words matter.

Rudy can argue over which word to use, but fact is, intervention has become necessary even crucial to the campaign and it’s ability to attract more of the big donors. Maybe Rudy can become the campaign manager, but he probably doesn’t want to stake his legacy on the outcome of this election, which could go in any direction.
