>Nobody’s that stupid. She's a liar.

I don't know. Growing up I was told to stand respectfully for the National Anthem (men with caps off if outside at a baseball game), and to place my hand over my heart for the Pledge. When did the hand over heart for the national anthem start being the official way to behave?

Grandson participates in track and field events for AAU and Junior Olympics. All of the meets in Texas begin with a prayer, pledge to the flag and playing of the Star Spangled Banner. Coach also says a prayer before they start their weekly practice. Have yet to see any of the athletes at our Texas AAU meets not bow their heads for the prayer, say the pledge with hand over their heart and sing the SSB. Most of the kiddos are Black and parents have not only trained them well but insist on appropriate behavior.

We did go to a meet in Louisiana two years ago. Good grief - what a difference. Kids running everywhere, no prayer or pledge, lots of older female contestants running around with a baby on their hip or a toddler in tow.

Ever look at the pro players during the anthem? Behavior is totally inappropriate for most.

A civilian woman saluting the flag places her hand above her breast, not on it. Pardon my indulging one of my all time favorite topics. It isn’t flag etiquette.

Fine. Throw away millions of dollars in public Goodwill and possible endorsements by being a sour crabapple. Express yourself! Then we can listen to you pretend to be a victim of racism when the big advertisers don’t want you, because word is you’re ‘difficult’, and ‘not much fun’.

This is what hurts veterans

It’s tough for this vet to get good medical care from the VA or to get a job with them when a lot of VA employees are not veterans

Trump talks about this and it’s an issue

That’s not what people get into the military for

When people in this country can’t honor the flag it is demoralizing.

No excuse. Take your hat off put your hand over your heart and stand up. For what? One minute. You spend a day and half a weeks paycheck getting to a game and you can’t take a minute for your country?

I’ll agree she should get a little criticism because of her position as an Olympic athlete. I just wouldnt make too big a deal out the of it. If there’s a next time, throw the book at her!

Everybody knows Michael Phelps likes the ganja. He was probably high. Besides, he’s not widely known for his dazzling intellect, so expectations are focused on the Medal Count.

We never put our hand over our heart for the Star Spangled Banner. We did for the Pledge of Allegiance.

It is a shame that Freepers can’t enjoy these young women for the amazing feat they accomplished. Yes, Gabby didn’t put her hand on her heart. But she put her heart gymnastics and is a wonderful athlete. Her mother is single handily raised four children. One of them became a Gold Medalist in the Olympics. Yet, Freepers don’t have the humanity to enjoy the moment. Very sad. Very embarrassing.

I watched several of the gymnast programs and noticed there is something very different about Douglas versus the other girls. Tin hat? Who knows but I did notice that there were not “warm feelings” between Douglas and the others. She sat by herself, offered phony smiles and support when one of her piers performed well and definitely DID NOT have a warm feeling towards the “elder” of the team. I an NOT surprised that she did not hold her hand over her heart. She reminded me of a young Michelle Obama who does NOT respect our country. She damn well better, it was with the help of the other girls and coaches from THIS COUNTRY that helped get her a gold medal. Another “entitled” black?

Her hand appeared to be clinched as in black power.

Not at all.

Black power salute would have been a clenched fist, not hands together.

The fact that it isn’t, says a lot about why we have the problems we do have.

Starting with lack of respect.

Did you watch the Olympics last night? Did you see how exhausted he was after the 200 x 4 relay? He was exhausted. He could barely get out of the pool. That event was the 21st GOLD MEDAL. He is 31 years old. I am sure you can do better.

It’s a short road from being America’s Princess, to being Yesterday’s Diva. When you’re a teenager, it’s hard not to take all that fawning press behavior seriously. You start believing your own press reports.

“I must really BE special after all! Look at all those white reporters making a fuss over me.
They like me, they REALLY like me!” Then you start to expect lavish shows of approval all the time, without having to work for it on a personal basis, ‘cause you’re special, and therefore, entitled!

Has 25 Gold Medals, and you have how many? HEH HEH All you have is Ad Hominem.Steve Jobs

It’s been reported the Apple co-founder smoked pot and took LSD in his first semester at Reed College in Portland, Oregon in 1972. Since dropping out from the school, he’s only gone on to become one of the most successful and wealthiest people in America. In 1984, he received the National Medal of Technology from President Ronald Reagan. In 2007, Fortune Magazine named him the most powerful person in business and then California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger inducted him into the California Hall of Fame. Fortune also named him CEO of the Decade in 2009 while Forbes ranked him #57 on their list of the World’s Most Powerful People that same year. The Financial Times named Jobs its person of the year for 2010.

I’m not sure, but I don’t think you can have those kind of accolades being dumb. Plus, the guy’s a Beatles fan, dated Joan Baez, and sold one of his houses to Bono from U2. That’s some hip, hip company, my friend.

I’m now wondering if her bitterness is due to her needing to find new coaches, after she slammed her previous gym for being ‘racist’. That gym prepared her for her successes in 2012. After she denigrated them, I suspect she had to find new trainers. She isn’t nearly as good as she was in 2012. Poor baby.
