Low-Key Trump Takes on Obama and Hillary in Miami

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Trump was in Miami today. He made a speech to the National Association of Home Builders. It's their annual midyear meeting. I have not seen this Donald Trump in a long time. This Donald Trump looked like he was on Valium compared to the Donald Trump we see each and every day. It's not a criticism. It was markedly different. It was low-key. It's still as powerful. He didn't shirk from what he was saying. It was simply the way he was saying things. Very, very low-key. No histrionics. Didn't go off on tangents as they occurred to him. He stayed focused. A couple of sound bites. He added a chart to the wrinkle. He holds up a chart here of home ownership under Obama and explains it.

TRUMP: I'm into the world of charts lately.

BUILDERS: (laughter)

TRUMP: You don't need very good eyesight to see what's going on. So here's Obama and here's the end.

BUILDERS: (applause and whistles)

TRUMP: He's not finished yet. Isn't that a terrible...? Now, seriously, isn't that a terrible picture? Look at that. Home ownership. So you take a look at what's happened. That's the American dream right there, folks. And then they wonder why 25,000 people come to my rallies. But look at this. And, to me, that says so much because that's home ownership. That's the American dream, and it's the lowest it's been in 51 years. Wow. So I think that's pretty sad.

RUSH: So you hear how relatively/comparatively low-key Trump is there, and he's showing his chart. The thing about home ownership is right on the money. It is in a 51-year low. And that after all of these subprime mortgage scandals designed to put everybody in a home. Home ownership's lower than ever, after the Democrats, Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton come up with this subprime mortgage scheme demanding that banks make mortgage loans to people that have no way of ever repaying it.

It was nothing more than a sop to the poor. "See, it's not fair that the rich and other people own a house and you don't. So we're gonna put you in homes! We're gonna let you live in a home! The big banks are gonna take it on the chin. The big banks have been screwing you; well, you're gonna screw the big banks." They don't say this, of course, but this is the impression created. "We're gonna fix it so you can buy a house. The banks cannot say no to you." "Yaaaay! Yay!"

And even with that, home ownership is at a 51-year low, and it's largely because nobody is working and nobody is earning enough money to continue to make mortgage payments and people are being foreclosed on. And somehow, Obama escapes any attachment to it! Trump is trying to tie Obama to it -- and Hillary, because she wants to continue all this under the guise of continuing to make it better. And just one more bite from Trump's speech at the National Association of Home Builders' midyear meeting today in Miami.

TRUMP: She's voted for higher taxes 235 times in the Senate. She's proposing a big one today in her speech, her teleprompter speech. She's got --

BUILDERS: (laughter and applause)

TRUMP: Her speeches are so short, though. They don't last long. You know, they're like 10 minutes. "Let's get outta here. Go back home and go to sleep. "

BUILDERS: (laughter)

TRUMP: Three days later, she gets up and she does another one, and goes back home and goes to sleep.

BUILDERS: (laughter)

TRUMP: Oh, boy, is ISIS hoping for her! Is China hoping!

RUSH: Yeah. That's about right. Her speeches aren't very long. Do you know that she gave...? She donated her speech at the Democrat National Convention? She waived her $250,000 speech fee. She was actually thinking of charging them for her acceptance speech and ended up waiving it. Anyway, you hear the different Trump there. Maybe because of the audience? He likes...? Who knows?

If a hit of valium helps Donald to stay on task then he should keep taking it. Mike Pence should start keeping a few wrapped in foil, stored in his shirt pocket, next to the breath mints. We’re in the Home Stretch now. Time to get down to business at hand, which is making sure Hillary stays out of the White House, by any means necessary!

I don’t know about Rush anymore.

He praises as faintly as possible, always brings up doubts that turn out to be slander rehashes. Yeah, he calls them slander, but he brings them up. Yeah he claims to be putting them to rest, but he never does it without a head shake...

Et tu, Rush?

It was nothing more than a sop to buying the votes of the poor.

And that is ILLEGAL!!!

I can’t wait for Giuliani to be interviewed on this. He’s first one I heard call Obama and Clinton founding members of ISIS. I don’t recall the MSM taking him to task for saying the obvious. What Trump said is absolute truth.

I am so glad Trump is saying this that Obama/Clinton created ISIS. It is so true. ISIS is a product of Obama/Clinton ‘s incompetence. They are responsible for getting hundreds of thousands of people killed, butchered, tortured.

They are responsible for blowing up Europe.

They are responsible for getting police killed and destroying the American economy.

I am so glad Trump is saying it. Millions of Americans are thinking it.

He needs to do more of this. A picture is worth a thousand words. Show a chart that tracks take home pay for a typical family.

I so loved seeing these. That man thinks out of the box all the time. When is the last time you saw something like this at a rally?

I just saw a documentary on the design and construction of the Trump Tower Building in Chicago. It is built on a very narrow foot print because of the limited space available in down town Chicago. It is the 3rd highest building in United States. That building design is like no other in the world. Engineers like me can truly appreciate the ground breaking design ideas incorporated in that building. It is the safest high rise in Chicago if hit by a tornado. A similar height steel based high rise would bend upto 4 feet in high winds at the top. The Trump tower would bend only 4 inches at the top with similar wind load.

Like you said, Trump thinks out of the box all the time AND he thinks big.

Have you even been in a tall building that swayed with the wind?

Weird feeling.

I guess all the new ones have mass dampers in them to minimize the sway.

I have been in every tall building in Chicago but never when they were swaying. That would scare me a lot. I have developed terrible fear of heights now. In my young teens I had no fear. I remember jumping from roof of one 3 story house to the next to chase after lose kites.

I hear ya!

I’ve no fear of falling.

I do; however; fear stopping very rapidly!
