US elections: Trump details plans to track illegal immigrants

Aug 28, 2016- The US Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump, has said he will develop a tracking system to help authorities control immigration.

Speaking on the campaign trail in Iowa, he outlined what he called an "entry-exit" programme, which would track those who overstay their visas.

He also reiterated his support for building a wall along the southern border with Mexico.

And he said he would stop illegal immigrants getting welfare benefits.

"I am going to build a great border wall, institute nationwide e-verify, stop illegal immigrants from accessing welfare and entitlements, and develop an exit-entry tracking system to ensure those who overstay their visas are quickly removed," Mr Trump said.

"If we don't enforce visa expiration dates, then we have an open border - it's as simple as that," he added.

Immigration was a central issue in Mr Trump's primary campaign.

Earlier this week, he signalled he would soften his immigration plans.

Instead of deporting all 11 million people living illegally in the US as he had suggested before, he said only criminals would go.

He was immediately criticised by the right of the Republican party, with Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin warning him of "massive disappointment" if he backed down on his plan to deport undocumented immigrants.

You nailed it. If he enforces e-verify, denies benefits, and develops an exit-entry tracking system, that will take care of the problem. And of course, build the wall.

This is the only way to go. Track them, roll up the welcome mat and benefit and keep more from streaming in. Many will leave on their own when we treat them as people that aren’t welcome and stop treating them better than citizens.

He did not say ‘only criminals’ will go. He said they are the first to be out of here so fast their heads would spin. But they will certainly not be the last.

It looks like he’s been dissecting our immigration laws and seeing what he can do without legislation and without running afoul of the Supremes.

Steady on.

See CA Prop 187 circa ‘94, where the people in CA won that historic election by a wide margin, only to have the feds working in concert with their state co-conspirators declared the election illegal and burned the ballots. It wold have put an end to tax paid benefits going to illegal aliens.

The results of that epic government intrusion into a free election of the people can now be seen from coast to coast.

Go Trump!

Exactly. Alabama was wildly successful with that system. People just left. The key in Alabama was enforcing e-verify on housing.

You left out one need. Go after and litigate the employers who hire illegals.

Tracking tourist visa entry and exit was a recommendation of the 911 commission which congress ignored. Almost every other country does. It would end a lot of illegal immigration and fraudulent use of identity.

I’m all for prosecuting business owners or fining businesses for hiring illegals. I am tired of America taking care of illegals who contribute little and care less about the freedom and protection my country provides.

Yup, and the unwashed, one dimension voters don't understand this. We're surrounded by morons.

Furthermore, they don't study history: "Operation Wetback".

Yup. If immigration laws had been enforced, the 911 terrorists who were here on EXPIRED VISAS...

.

... would have been deported and would have prevented this from happening:

.

None of this is rocket science. Just enforce current immigration laws, including e-Verify, and eliminate the freebies.

Precisely. Recall all the times these jokers tried to push through “comprehensive immigration reform”.
Our immigration laws were “broken”. All they ever wanted was another general amnesty.
So in the same spirit, they claim to object to Trump personally when what they really object to is what he will do.
Those liars are finished on the right. They object to America getting up off its knees.

Good. The sooner the better. I was doing security a few years back and on my construction site the “workers” never spoke a word in English and always had Mexican veer for lunch. I should have called OSHA. Didn’t think of it at the time..

Someone that talks to Trump should tell him to use the phrase “Crimes of Moral Turpitude” when speaking of, about, or to clintons. That is a totally and completely repugnant charge, as understood by all Americans. The clintons should be branded with this phrase at every opportunity. Just the accusation is far worse than “racisist”.

Not sure if this statement from the article is correct. It seems there are different interpretations of what he said last Wednesday or Thursday. I did not hear this.
