The 2016 election has opened an extraordinary chasm between supporters of the two leading candidates over the direction of the country, well beyond the divisions that existed in the 2008 campaign, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

According to the poll, 8 in 10 registered voters who support Republican Donald Trump say that the United States is less great than in the past, compared with just about 2 in 10 of those who support Democrat Hillary Clinton. Among all voters, 47 percent say the United States is less great than in the past, while 35 percent say it has been about the same and 17 percent say the country is greater than before.

The 17% mentioned are residents of the Chicago housing projects, Illegal aliens in East LA, and for some odd reason they included foreign nationals with names like Abdullah and Mohammed.

Why would liberals think the country is great? They are always complaining and trying to change it. They assign all sorts of vices to the general population, like racism, homophobic, Islamophobic, you name it and they will accuse entire groups of it.

We are all so deplorable that Hillary already has a basket ready for us.

Well, Gee-Wiz! 0bama was JUST getting warmed up at the end of 2008 and has FOUR MORE YEARS of race-baiting and fomenting civil discourse under his Mom Jeans belt!

I suspect most people who are heavily dependent on gubmint money are miserable (the work is incredibly easy but doesn't pay well, and there's no pride in it). They are addicts who don't like their lives, but see no way out.

Turning off the tap of free money would be the most merciful thing we could do in this country.

But like heroin addicts they will do anything to keep getting free money.

I used to teach some college classes for students who were mostly on Pell Grants. If they spent half the time studying they spent cheating and whining they would have aced the classes.

The problem for the Left is they live in "bubble" of Wall Street, technology companies and the entertainment industry and don't understand our industrial base is rapidly falling apart.

If Trump wins, watch for major income tax and business regulatory reforms and watch everyone get amazed by 2020 when DJIA is 25,000 and still climbing because we have a real broad-based recovery.

Tattooed, pierced, drunk, fat, ignorant and foul-mouthed young women.
Add hating to the above for black women.
Unmotivated, ignorant, tattooed and out of shape pajama boys.
High divorce and illegitimacy rates.
Rampant welfare and welfare abuse.
Dying Christianity.
Nasty TV shows and movies.
American corp’s sending jobs away.
Trespassers abounding, taking our jobs and hurting our people.
STD rates.
Widespread drunkenness and pot legalization.
Media propaganda.
Socialism is popular in America now.
Little care for being involved, active ‘we the people’ by citizens.
Government enabling much of the above.

Other than that kind of stuff, we’re great.

This story captures something important about the ongoing transfer of wealth and social standing in America.

Traditional middle class “haves” feel the negative effects of declining employment, massive national debt, failed public schools, high crime, the importation of skilled workers and the export of jobs overseas to drive down wages, the erosion of national sovereignty, and the decline of US political military power, as evidenced by failures in the ME and Afghanistan, and challenge of Islam with nothing being done except abetting it. The middle class senses it own decline, and knows its present and future has ben hollowed out by both global competition and corrupt government that does not represent their interests. Their children are headed to join the lower class as dhimmis of one sort or another. Things are NOT GREAT.

But the “have nots” never had it so good. They are entitled to lots of handouts, and esteem is now based on existence and diversity, not success at doing anything. They have no worries about all this killing the golden goose when massive deficit spending finally crashes the economy. Long term thinking is someone else’s responsibility. They do know they’ll never pay a dime, and have nothing to lose. A dearth of good jobs for ordinary people is no loss for them; they never had them. Pulling down the middle class to their level makes them feel empowered. Things are GREAT.

The very wealthy and elites with government and academic jobs are doing quite well. They are entrenched on a generational basis, and are becoming a permanent aristocracy as the middle class collapses. Things are GREAT.

If white liberal elites clustered around Washington DC were polled on 'right track/wrong track they would be 100% 'right track'.

Life is good for white liberal elite parasites ripping off the country.

Liberal elites live in some of the wealthiest ZIP codes in the country... right up there with Hollywood Stars... Except they don't have to make movies, or products or run businesses... nope, they have no heavy (dirty) industry... they make their millions selling out our country.

And they want the gravy train to run forever... corrupt, vile, and wealthy... every-thing's GREAT for them now.

That's why they hate Trump - he's going to upset their apple cart... and the deplorables are going to help him.

The market will go in the toilet if tromp gets in there. Wall Street is attached at the hip to big government and long ago stopped making money the old fashion way.

But that will only be a temporary situation. With income tax and regulatory reform, there will be massive incentive to revive the American industrial base, and that will end up being BETTER for the US economy in the long run when American works and factories produce tangible goods.
