The bomb placed in the path of the USMC run was earlier in the day in Seaside, NJ. The NY Post article is about the explosion last evening in Manhattan.
But I just heard on CNN that there ARE similarities between the two events. No details were forthcoming.
CNN reported similarity so far is cell phone, and model of cell phone (not necessarily exactly the same model). I don't think that is near enough to link the events. Cetain products are near ubiquitous, like black powder and nails.

It has been reported that the devices appear to have been made by the same bomb maker.
IMHO, there is little doubt that all three of these these were Islamic Terror attacks.
I would normally say that they were probably individual acts of Sudden Jihad Terror Syndrome. (Which I kept track of from 2002-2009 here: http://www.jeffhead.com/sjs/)
But since they all occurred within a few hours of one another...I have doubts.
It could well have been orchestrated, all three by one group or set of people. Particularly that they believe some of the bombs in to different locations were made by the same people.
